Notes from the dealer
Analytical buyers who meticulously compare equipment lists will appreciate the Explorer XLT's mix of practicality and amenities. With second row bucket seats and a non-smoker ownership history, this SUV suits families and professionals seeking durability and comfort for daily commutes or road trips, especially in regions like Sw Mt Vernon, IA where 4WD is a sensible year-round feature. The heated seats and dual zone climate control enhance comfort in varying climates, while the intelligent cruise control and reverse sensing system streamline routine driving. The Explorer's thorough Ford Gold Certified inspection adds an extra layer of confidence for value-driven shoppers who prioritize long-term reliability and peace of mind.
Performance value is front and center with the 2.3L EcoBoost I-4 engine paired to a 10-speed automatic transmission, delivering a well-balanced mix of power and efficiency for an SUV in its class. With EPA ratings of 20 mpg city and 27 mpg highway, the Explorer helps minimize fuel expenses, especially compared to larger V6 competitors. Maintenance is also simplified by Ford's reputation for accessible service and the inclusion of 22,000 FordPass Rewards Points for the first two maintenance visits. This combination ensures that buyers receive solid daily performance and lower ongoing costs without sacrificing capability, making it a cost-effective choice for those who demand versatility and dependability.
Safety is a standout strength with this SUV, as essential technologies come standard instead of being locked behind premium packages. Blind spot monitoring, rear camera, ABS brakes, and electronic stability control are all included at no extra cost. Auto high-beam headlights and intelligent cruise further enhance driver confidence, particularly in busy or low-light conditions. Competitors often require buyers to pay extra for these safety features, but the Explorer XLT delivers them as part of its standard suite, maximizing safety value for families and commuters alike. The inclusion of SYNC 3 911 Assist provides added emergency communication functionality for added peace of mind.
Value is amplified by packages like the XLT Sport Appearance Package and Equipment Group 202A, which add heated ActiveX captainâs chairs, power driver and passenger seats, and a remote start system. The Class IV Trailer Tow Package increases utility for hauling needs, while the 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot ensures connectivity for all passengers.
When evaluating value against segment rivals like the Honda Pilot EX-L and Toyota Highlander XLE, the Explorer XLT stands out by bundling more desirable featuresâ"including advanced safety tech, heated seats, and a power liftgateâ"without requiring buyers to move up to a pricier trim.
What comes standard on the Explorer XLT? Buyers receive a suite of comfort and safety features, including heated seats and steering wheel, leather interior, blind spot monitoring, and SYNC 3 connectivity. Is the Explorer worth the price? Given its comprehensive equipment, strong powertrain, and certified status, it delivers more for the money than most rivals.

So far so good - smooth ride - plenty of power for a 2.3 liter 4 cyl which coming from someone who drove a 5.0 V8 for 20 yrs- much better on gas - 4.0
Served our family well!

Trading my car in next week, I am gonna miss my Explorer. It’s been a good family car. Draw backs: the screen is glitchy at times. Some electronics malfunctioned and I won’t lie, they can be costly to fix. Comfortable, spacious. I never had any mechanical problems with the car, but I did take very good care of it at well. I maintained all recommended services and any replacements were all genuine Ford parts. I hope whoever buys our car, loves it as much as we did.
