Notes from the dealer
Shoppers comparing multiple midsize SUVs will find the Explorer ST particularly appealing if they prioritize strong performance, all-weather confidence, and a premium driving experience. Its 4WD drivetrain delivers superior traction for those commuting through Iowa winters or navigating unpredictable terrain, while heated and cooled seats, second-row bucket seating, and a panoramic moonroof make every journey more comfortable for families or adventure-seekers. The non-smoker vehicle history offers additional peace of mind for those sensitive to interior condition, and the suite of convenience features, like power liftgate and navigation, make this SUV especially well-suited for busy professionals and active families.
When it comes to performance, the Explorer STâs 3.0L EcoBoost V6 engine paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission delivers brisk acceleration and smooth gear changes that edge out many competitors in responsiveness. While alternatives like the Traverse RS focus on V6 consistency and the Durango R/T highlights muscle, the Explorer ST achieves a unique balance of power and efficiency, with EPA ratings of 18 city and 25 highway MPG. Its 4WD system provides added confidence when road conditions deteriorate, ensuring that even in less-than-ideal weather, this SUV remains composed and capable. The result is an engaging drive with practical benefits for everyday use.
Safety is another area where this SUV takes the lead, as standard equipment includes Blind Spot Monitoring, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keep Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, and a 360 Degree Camera. These features, often optional or bundled into expensive packages on competitors, come standard here, offering drivers greater assurance in all conditions. The Reverse Sensing System and rain-sensing wipers add further convenience and peace of mind, especially in busy parking lots or during sudden weather changes. By prioritizing active safety systems, the Explorer ST ensures that its occupants enjoy industry-leading protection without extra cost.
Feature-rich from the outset, the Explorer STâs Equipment Group 400A Standard Package brings a comprehensive lineup of luxury and technology. Navigation, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, 10 speakers, dual-zone climate control, and heated/ventilated Miko Sport Captain's Chairs create a tailored in-cabin experience. The power liftgate streamlines loading for road trips or shopping runs, while keyless entry and memory seating simplify daily routines.
Against the Chevrolet Traverse RS and Dodge Durango R/T, the Explorer ST distinguishes itself with its unique combination of performance, comfort, and technologyâ"all backed by Ford's reputation for durability and strong resale value.
Why choose the Explorer ST over other midsize SUVs? This vehicle offers a factory 7-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty as part of its Ford Gold Certified status, providing long-term peace of mind not always matched by competitors. What does it offer that others donât? Standard heated and cooled front seats, second-row bucket seats, and a 360 Degree Camera systemâ"features often optional elsewhereâ"are included here.

So far so good - smooth ride - plenty of power for a 2.3 liter 4 cyl which coming from someone who drove a 5.0 V8 for 20 yrs- much better on gas - 4.0
Served our family well!

Trading my car in next week, I am gonna miss my Explorer. It’s been a good family car. Draw backs: the screen is glitchy at times. Some electronics malfunctioned and I won’t lie, they can be costly to fix. Comfortable, spacious. I never had any mechanical problems with the car, but I did take very good care of it at well. I maintained all recommended services and any replacements were all genuine Ford parts. I hope whoever buys our car, loves it as much as we did.
