Notes from the dealer
Drivers who prioritize daily engagement will appreciate how the Explorer transforms routine commutes into enjoyable experiences. Those who notice the subtle differences in steering response and chassis tuning will find satisfaction in its finely calibrated suspension, which soaks up imperfections without sacrificing a direct connection to the road. The Ebony leather interior supports longer drives with comfort, while the presence of heated and ventilated seats, along with dual-zone climate control, ensures you remain focused and refreshed. For those in areas like Sw Mt Vernon, IA, the combination of 4WD confidence and advanced safety tech adds peace of mind during unpredictable weather, enhancing year-round driving enjoyment.
The 2.3L EcoBoost I-4 engine delivers brisk, responsive power, paired perfectly with the 10-speed automatic transmission that shifts smoothly and intuitively. Throttle response is immediate, allowing you to merge confidently onto highways or accelerate out of tight spots with ease. The transmission adapts seamlessly to driving style, delivering crisp downshifts and maintaining the right gear for both relaxed cruising and more spirited bursts. The suspension strikes a rare balance, offering enough firmness to reduce body roll in corners while still absorbing bumps for a composed ride. Brake pedal feel is progressive and confident, providing reassurance during sudden stops or spirited driving.
Safety features in the Explorer are designed to complement active driving rather than intrude, with systems like Electronic Stability Control and Traction Control stepping in only when necessary to maintain composure. The Lane Keep Assist and Lane Departure Warning offer gentle corrections that never override the driver's intentions, preserving a sense of control. Adaptive Cruise and Intelligent Cruise make long-distance cruising less fatiguing, while the Blind Spot Monitoring and 360-degree camera system enhance situational awareness without diminishing the driverâs involvement. The combination of these technologies results in a driving experience that feels supported, not automated.
Inside, the Explorer Limited surrounds you with features that prioritize both driver engagement and comfort. The heated and cooled leather captain's chairs provide support during dynamic driving and relaxation on extended trips. SYNC 3 with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto keeps you seamlessly connected, while the B&O Sound System by Bang & Olufsen delivers crisp, immersive audio.
Against rivals like the Chevrolet Traverse and Honda Pilot, the Explorer distinguishes itself with sharper steering, more communicative chassis dynamics, and the unique engagement of its turbocharged EcoBoost engine.
Is the Explorer engaging to drive? Absolutelyâ"the steering delivers real feedback and the 2.3L EcoBoost engine responds crisply, making daily drives genuinely enjoyable. How does it handle on the highway? The SUV remains composed, soaking up bumps and resisting crosswinds, while the 10-speed automatic keeps power delivery smooth and consistent.

Love it.

Single guy looking for a vehicle that is fun to drive but can haul junk too, and this fits the bill. I came from a 2018 Lincoln MKZ 3.0t AWD, this has all the same features but this does it better. Mine had one minor panel issue the dealership is fixing, but otherwise everything is solid. Installed a BOV, I find it funny to blow past people with a quiet exhaust and a loud Spanish sound as they disappear into the distance. Fantastic nighttime viability over the lower trims. Actually just better over all than the lower trims. Bolt ons and a tune just puts this in its own league for the price you pay, the only thing that comes close is a 2026 dodge Durango RT 392. ST is not for everyone but it is for me. "Sporty" family hauler my butt. Wrong demographic. This is a genuine fast mid-sized SUZ that you'd have to go luxury to get close to the performance numbers otherwise. - 5.0
