The 2022 Ford Maverick XLT is a compact pickup truck that blends city-friendly dimensions with true utility, offering a 2.5L I-4 hybrid engine and front-wheel drive. Built for versatility, it features a 4D Crew Cab layout, advanced connectivity like Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, and standard safety tech. Its unique hybrid powertrain delivers efficiency while preserving useful cargo and passenger space in a modern, approachable package.

This truck is well-suited for practical buyers who prioritize fuel economy, urban maneuverability, and flexible cargo solutions. Its hybrid setup targets those needing a daily driver with the utility of a pickup, while the Crew Cab comfortably seats up to five. Users valuing standard tech, safety features, and low operating costs will find it a compelling choice for commuting, errands, and weekend projects alike.

On the road, the Maverick’s 2.5L I-4 hybrid engine paired with a CVT delivers smooth, predictable acceleration and impressive fuel savings. The powertrain balances responsive city driving with steady highway cruising. The front-wheel-drive layout aids in traction and efficiency, while the independent front suspension and speed-sensing steering result in nimble handling for a truck of its size. Ride comfort is further enhanced by a well-tuned chassis.

Safety is addressed through multiple active and passive systems. The truck is equipped with ABS, 4-wheel disc brakes, electronic stability control, and traction control to help maintain grip and control in diverse conditions. Dual front, side, and knee airbags provide occupant protection. A rearview camera aids in reversing and parking, while auto high-beam headlights and brake assist add confidence during nighttime or emergency situations.

Feature highlights include Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for seamless device integration, automatic temperature control, remote keyless entry, and steering wheel audio controls. The XLT trim brings 17-inch alloy wheels, body-color bumpers, and an advanced multi-speaker audio system. Practical touchesâ€"like a rear step bumper and split-folding rear seatsâ€"enhance utility, while the trip computer and compass support everyday usability.

Compared to the Hyundai Santa Cruz and Honda Ridgeline, the Maverick stands out with its standard hybrid engine and superior fuel efficiency. While competitors may offer more powerful engines or all-wheel drive, this truck’s blend of low running costs, approachable price, and easy urban handling make it a high-value leader within the growing compact truck segment.

Key features include hybrid efficiency, a comfortable Crew Cab, and smartphone integration. Daily driving benefits from smooth CVT operation and compact dimensions for parking. Safety systems such as ABS and stability control are standard. Before test driving, expect a car-like ride paired with true pickup utility, and consider the model’s strong reputation for practicality and innovation.

A versatile vehicle! 2023 Mav Tremor

by TremorNV on 11/23/2025 3:02:38 AM

I went with the Tremor trim for more off-road capability. So far there hasn’t been a thing I couldn’t do with this Mav. I’ve gone on long road trips, explored rough trails, loaded lumber, hauled a sectional, towed a side by side with it, driven in Tahoe snow and many other things. First, I’d say it’s actually a fun drive. It really sticks to road and handling it is super easy. Yes, it has a plastic interior and the tech does feel a little outdated but you get what you pay for. It’s a 33k mini truck. I haven’t had any issues. The heated steering wheel is the hottest of any other one I’ve had. It has over gotten stuck on me and the bed is like 6.5 ft long with the tail gate down. Capable of hauling ten foot wood, which I’ve done. The gas mileage on my Tremor (Awd eco boost) is 28-29, which makes me happy. Truthfully, back in 2019 when Ford brought the Ranger back… it should have been this truck. It’s a great little truck, beats the Santa Cruz any day!

      surprises come in smaller packages

by Dptazzz on 11/16/2025 5:40:02 PM

i didnt buy the truck i wanted, i bought the one i needed.. big enough to tow any future toys, small enough to take on long trips, as well as comfortable, and not driving like a bigger pickup.. gas mileage runs 28.8 to 30.2, i can get it a bit higher on long trips. Economy option helps a good deal when cruising for long periods, having the truck run in FWD when its most economical, and not needing the extra traction, is a plus.. the seats are more comfortable than my Cadillac ATS, and they were all leather.. it drives fairly quiet, no, not luxury sedan quiet, but, better than my other 1500 series pickups ive had. bed is big enough for me, i already used it to move from one house to another across town, and towed by trailer behind me, once with my 800lb motorcycle, and didnt really notice it. i drove thru snow and ice heading to missouri, at the end of 2022 ( i got the truck new in April of 2022 ). and I passed a LOT of cars while driving thru slushy snow, snow covered roads, etc, with no real issues. I grew up mainly in Missouri, so snow and ice covered roads, are second nature. A good vehicle with great traction wasnt always underneath me, this truck never made me nervous, and I passed going up hill, passing trucks slowing everyone down, in those nice hills on US 65 out of Arkansas going up into Missouri. Yea.. truck handled it like a champ. i simply have no real complaints, other than a string of modest recalls. which all but the last one have been tended to, and i simply have to have the time to Get to this last one. i would buy this truck again.. I ordered it, bought it without a test drive.. Lariat with tow package.. it simply is a great little truck.

Fun to drive, Sips gas, Infotainment needs a rewri

by AlanC on 11/9/2025 2:27:29 PM

I've enjoyed the truck. Its seats are far more comfortable than those from manufacturers who put in high bolsters and bulging seatbacks. Ride is surprisingly smooth and quiet; better by far than our 2021 Santa Fe. The cruise control's distance-keeping feature needs to allow more following distance, so its practically useless to me. Tailgates will love it. The SYNC3 protocol, which I use for Android Auto, is highly annoying when going among functions. Ford needs to implement a volume control roller on the steering wheel, like recent Hyundais, instead of push-buttons, to make up/down/mute easier to hit by feel. Ford put some neat indentions in the bed to allow for load-separation cross members. The little 4-banger sounds like it struggles with every transition from electric to hybrid, but that's the sad state of Powerplant affairs today. Gas mileage is an eye-opener. I've gotten 50 on some drives, and the average is around 45 in the 1,500 miles I've driven this used 2024. I miss my F150 Supercrew less all the time. This little truck does what I need at this point, didn't break the bank, and is fun to drive.
