Notes from the dealer
Analytical buyers who scrutinize spec sheets and compare segment value will appreciate this truckâs comprehensive standard feature list, including stain and odor-resistant cloth seats, Blue Link Connected Car Service (three years included), and an array of driver-assist technologies. If you want maximum equipment for your budget and avoid paying extra for essentials, the Santa Cruz SELâs trim delivers a highly competitive value blend, making it ideal for shoppers who calculate ownership costs down to the detail.
Performance-wise, the Santa Cruz SEL offers a 2.5L I4 engine paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive, balancing everyday power with efficiency. It delivers competitive horsepower for its class and a favorable power-to-price ratio, ensuring you arenât overpaying for capability. The intelligent drivetrain supports confident handling in various conditions, while the 8-speed transmission optimizes both city and highway fuel use, keeping running costs in check over time.
Safety value is a key strength here: standard equipment features Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keep Assist, Blind Spot Monitoring, Rear Camera, and Electronic Stability Control, all included at no extra charge. Many competitors require costly upgrades for these basics. The Santa Cruzâs safety suite actively helps prevent collisions and supports attentive driving, meaning you get advanced protection as part of the vehicleâs base offering, not as a costly add-on.
The SEL trim packs in features commonly reserved for higher trims elsewhere, including heated front seats, auto high-beam headlights, stain-resistant cloth upholstery, 12-speaker audio, and remote keyless entry. The Blue Link system (three-year subscription) streamlines connectivity and security. Functional upgrades like 18-inch alloy wheels, a power driver seat, and fully automatic headlights further enhance daily use, while carpeted floor mats and an envelop cargo net boost practicality.
When compared to the Honda Ridgeline and Ford Maverick, this truck distinguishes itself by including heated seats, advanced driver-assist systems, and a premium audio package as standardâ"features often requiring costly upgrades on those rivals. The Santa Cruzâs feature-to-price ratio is unmatched, providing similar utility but superior included amenities, so buyers maximize their investment without compromise.
Standard equipment includes Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, heated seats, blind spot monitoring, and Blue Link Connected Car Service. The vehicle is widely considered worth the price due to its extensive standard safety and comfort features. The SEL trim is the best value, blending price and equipment efficiently. Many features included here, like advanced driver aids and premium audio, cost extra on Ford Maverick and Honda Ridgeline models.

Best litte truck on the market
by William on 7/3/2024 9:57:05 PM
I bought the Santa Cruz to replace my Tundra. I no longer tow campers or heavy boats, but I wanted a reliable truck to pull a small boat and my kayaks. I cross-shopped the Ford Maverick, the Honda Ridgeline, and the Toyota Tacoma and found the Santa Cruz suited to my need for a comfortable, quiet truck with decent gas mileage. I opted for the Limited model and am very pleased with the overall fit and finish, driving assistance features, and comfortable ride. The truck gets 23 mpg in town and 26-28 mpg on the highway. I love the Bluelink app on my phone. I can start and cool the truck a few minutes before jumping in on hot Florida days! I am very pleased with my purchase.
