VW All Track Great Car but beware turbo failure.
by Lorenzo on 5/16/2025 10:25:33 PM
99k miles on well maintained / mint condition All Track. Turbo failed and now have a $4500 repair. Complete turbo needs to be replaced due to 'Wastegate Actuator bolt' that requires the complete turbo to be replaced. Disappointed with VW and subcontractor who manufactures the turbo. Safety issue and poor turbo design. - 4.0
Not Perfect, but a bit of a Unicorn these days

We have a 2018 VW Alltrack S that we bought when it had 10k miles on it. It now has 72k miles. We were a bit worried about reliability, but overall it has been a good car that has never left us stranded. We recently had to replace the turbo wastegate, which turned out to be a bigger hassle (and more expensive) than I would've liked. Otherwise, we've had no reliability issues. The car performs well, whether driving backroads, going slightly "offroad" (like the rutted dirt road going to my dad's house), or in inclement weather (rain or snow). Ours is a manual transmission, and it's fun to drive--handles well and has plenty of torque down low. Unbeknowst to us, the prior owner installed APR Stage 1 tuning, which gives ours a small bump in hp and torque. That power is nice to have when merging or passing on the highway or driving a little aggressively on backroads, but it may have played a role in the turbo wastegate failure. Overall, good car. Probalby not as reliable as a Toyota Camry or Honda Civic, but AWD, manual transmission wagons basically don't exist anymore, so we're gonna hang onto it. - 5.0

These are wonderful. I am a maniac and love to drive fast, so I drive cars that aren't anymore. I cant do it. This car, satisfies my need to fly if I have too. Never have gotten it stuck and really rolls.
