Notes from the dealer
Analytical shoppers who scrutinize spec sheets and demand maximum return for their dollar will appreciate what this SUV offers. The Edge SEL's combination of standard AWD and advanced tech makes it ideal for families and commuters in regions like Eastern Iowa, where winter weather reliability is a necessity. The inclusion of the Convenience Package and Cold Weather Package without requiring upgrades means owners avoid the hidden costs frequently encountered with rival crossovers. Buyers looking to balance premium features with affordability will find the value equation here to be especially compelling.
From a performance standpoint, the EcoBoost 2.0L I4 GTDi DOHC Turbocharged VCT engine paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission provides a satisfying blend of power and efficiency. AWD traction comes standard, increasing control and confidence in inclement conditions without requiring a trim upgrade. With EPA ratings of 21 MPG city and 28 MPG highway, fuel costs remain competitive for the class, and the proven turbocharged engine technology is designed for efficient, low-maintenance operation. This powertrain ensures that drivers enjoy spirited performance and robust capability without a premium price tag.
Safety value is a particular strength, with notable systems included as standard equipment. The Edge SEL comes equipped with Ford Co-Pilot360 Assist+, which provides features like rear parking sensors, rain-sensing wipers, a backup camera, and SYNC 3 911 Assist emergency communication. ABS, electronic stability control, and a comprehensive array of airbagsâ"including knee and side impact airbagsâ"are all included without additional cost. Where competitors may charge extra for these essential safety features, this SUV builds them into the base value.
The Edge SEL's standard features list is extensive and practical. Equipment Group 201A, the Convenience Package, and the Cold Weather Package are all included, delivering power front seats, heated mirrors, remote keyless entry, automatic high-beam headlights, and a power driver seat as standard. AppLink/Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, a 12-speaker audio system, and dual-zone automatic climate control make daily driving more enjoyable. The ebony synthetic interior and burgundy exterior add a touch of style without inflating the price.
Compared to alternatives like the Chevrolet Blazer and Honda Passport, this SUV stands out by bundling AWD and advanced comfort technology at the SEL trim level, where competitors often require higher trims or option packages. While the Blazer and Passport offer similar ride quality, they frequently charge extra for features such as rain-sensing wipers and heated seats, which are standard on the Edge SEL. The result is a higher feature-to-price ratio and a more transparent value proposition.
Whatâs included as standard equipment? The Edge SEL delivers AWD, heated front seats, dual-zone climate control, Ford Co-Pilot360 Assist+, and smartphone integration at no extra cost. Is this vehicle worth the price? Yes, the combination of performance, safety, and technology included makes it a high-value choice. Which trim level offers the best value? The SEL stands out for balancing equipment and affordability.

Favorite Car Ever
by CaliSkiCat on 8/19/2026 7:13:49 PM
My titanium Edge has been my favorite car ever. I splurged on leather seating, cooled front seats, tow package, moon/sun roof. I get so many compliments anytime driving family or friends around. This AWD Edge handles highway traffic, rain, ice and snow with ease. First time taking a steep drive with ice and no chains handled like it was nothing (I did put Michelin cross climates on). I now live in the mountains so extra important in winters. It's a super comfortable AWD vehicle, not doing any 4x4ing but has pretty decent clearance. Only issue i have experienced is the tail gate had a issue with mechanism and warranty covered repair. Now it just sometimes lags and slow to raise. Otherwise a solid reliable vehicle hope it lasts well past it's 9th year come this fall 2026. Also mine is black and no signs of paint wear either. I did touch up the plastic trim after 7+ years that started to fade with cerakote trim coating and came back like brand new. I'm not ready to replace my Edge anytime soon (or ever). - 5.0
