Notes from the dealer
Pragmatic buyers prioritizing reliability and versatility will find the Explorer XLT especially appealing. Its spacious three-row seating, second-row bucket seats, and power liftgate make it ideal for families who need flexible cargo and passenger space for errands, vacations, or school runs. The 4WD system is well-suited to handle challenging weatherâ"an important consideration in regions like eastern Iowaâ"so owners stay confident year-round. A non-smoker history further adds peace of mind regarding interior upkeep.
Performance is built around a proven powertrain, with the 2.3L EcoBoost I-4 and 10-speed automatic transmission designed for smooth operation and lasting durability. The Explorerâs 4WD capability means it can confidently manage changing road conditions, including rain or snow. Owners can expect consistent performance over extended use, and the engineâs reputation for longevity supports ownership well beyond the initial purchase period. EPA ratings of 20 MPG city and 27 MPG highway highlight the SUVâs efficiency for its class, translating to fewer stops at the pump and reduced fuel expenses on longer trips.
The Explorer XLT protects your investment with a suite of advanced active safety features. Blind Spot Monitoring, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keep Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, and a Rear Camera work together to minimize the risk of accidents and improve driver awareness. The inclusion of ABS brakes, traction control, and electronic stability control further reinforce the SUVâs commitment to keeping occupants safe and helping owners avoid costly repairs or insurance claims over the long term.
This SUV is equipped with sought-after features that improve daily comfort and convenience. Highlights include leather interior with heated front seats and a heated steering wheel, navigation, SYNC 3 with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, dual-zone climate control, rear heat and AC, and a power driverâs seat. The Ford Co-Pilot360 Assist+ package adds extra confidence on the road, while the Class III Trailer Tow Package enables practical towing for trailers or recreational gear. The inclusion of new tires, power passenger seat, and advanced audio further elevate the ownership experience.
Compared with other midsize SUVs such as the Honda Pilot and Chevrolet Traverse, the Explorer stands out for its blend of proven EcoBoost power, advanced safety tech, and strong resale value. Its 4WD system offers added versatility in regions with variable weather, making it a smarter long-term investment for owners who plan to keep their SUV for many years. The interior versatility and modern features further reinforce its value proposition against competitors.
What warranty coverage did this vehicle have when new? The Ford factory powertrain warranty covered 5 years or 60,000 miles, with corrosion protection and roadside assistance also offered for 5 years. Is this brand reliable for long-term use? Fordâs midsize SUVs have a solid reputation for durability and owner satisfaction, backed by widespread service support.

Love it.

Single guy looking for a vehicle that is fun to drive but can haul junk too, and this fits the bill. I came from a 2018 Lincoln MKZ 3.0t AWD, this has all the same features but this does it better. Mine had one minor panel issue the dealership is fixing, but otherwise everything is solid. Installed a BOV, I find it funny to blow past people with a quiet exhaust and a loud Spanish sound as they disappear into the distance. Fantastic nighttime viability over the lower trims. Actually just better over all than the lower trims. Bolt ons and a tune just puts this in its own league for the price you pay, the only thing that comes close is a 2026 dodge Durango RT 392. ST is not for everyone but it is for me. "Sporty" family hauler my butt. Wrong demographic. This is a genuine fast mid-sized SUZ that you'd have to go luxury to get close to the performance numbers otherwise. - 5.0
