Notes from the dealer
Drivers comparing several three-row SUVs will find this Explorer especially compelling if they value a high-end interior and modern conveniences for daily use and road trips. Its non-smoker, locally owned history assures peace of mind, while amenities like heated and ventilated captain's chairs, premium leather, and a full-featured navigation system make it ideal for Iowa winters and long drives alike. The Explorer is tailored for those who don't want to settle between practicality and sophistication.
While competing SUVs may offer either strong engines or upscale amenities, this model brings both together with its 3.0L EcoBoost V6 and 10-speed automatic transmission for effortless acceleration and refined cruising. The standard 4WD system adds versatility for rough weather or unpaved roads, giving drivers more confidence than front-wheel-drive rivals. The Explorer's smooth power delivery and advanced suspension help it feel agile yet stable, even when loaded with passengers or cargo.
Safety is a key differentiator for this SUV, with standard features like lane departure warning, lane keep assist, blind spot monitoring, and a rearview cameraâ"all included without the need for added packages. While some competitors require upgrading for these systems, the Explorer ensures families have proactive safety support from the start. Adaptive cruise control and emergency communication via SYNC 3 911 Assist give additional reassurance in daily traffic or on longer journeys.
Luxury and technology come standard thanks to Equipment Group 601A and features such as a 10.1" LCD capacitive portrait touchscreen, B&O Sound System by Bang & Olufsen with 12 speakers, and dual-zone climate control for front and rear passengers. The Class IV Trailer Tow Package enhances flexibility for weekend adventures, while the power liftgate and remote start system streamline errands and travel. Second-row bucket seats and heated steering wheel further elevate comfort for all occupants.
Compared to the Chevrolet Traverse and Honda Pilot, the Explorer Platinum delivers higher-end finishes and more standard advanced safety technology. Where rivals may limit leather seating or navigation to top trims, this SUV includes them as part of its Platinum experience. Its transferable Ford Gold Certified warranty and 172-point inspection set it apart for long-term confidence and resale value, making it a smart buy for families seeking lasting quality.
Shoppers often ask what advantages set the Explorer apart. The answer lies in its blend of luxury, performance, and built-in safety. Unlike some competitors, it provides heated and ventilated front seats, adaptive cruise, and a navigation system as standard. The Ford Gold Certified program covers powertrain and offers roadside assistance, giving buyers a worry-free ownership experience and reinforcing the Explorer's reputation for value among midsize SUVs.

So far so good - smooth ride - plenty of power for a 2.3 liter 4 cyl which coming from someone who drove a 5.0 V8 for 20 yrs- much better on gas - 4.0
Served our family well!

Trading my car in next week, I am gonna miss my Explorer. It’s been a good family car. Draw backs: the screen is glitchy at times. Some electronics malfunctioned and I won’t lie, they can be costly to fix. Comfortable, spacious. I never had any mechanical problems with the car, but I did take very good care of it at well. I maintained all recommended services and any replacements were all genuine Ford parts. I hope whoever buys our car, loves it as much as we did. - 5.0
2025 Ford Explorer Active, RWD

Hello everyone! I had this car for about 3 months and I absolutely love it! I love how reliable it is and how quick it can get when it’s needed. The 3rd row is tight, it is a mid-size SUV after all. If you have a bigger family, I would suggest getting a full size SUV. Unfortunately, there are a few issues that I’ve noticed. 1. Sometimes, the car stalls/jerks a little bit when accelerating. It doesn’t happen much. 2. On the infotainment screen, I can’t download or update any apps. It says pending and it keeps spinning over and over again. (it is a computer after all) I have an appointment soon to get these issues fixed but other than that, it’s been amazing. I am so very grateful for this car. It is my first real car I’ve ever had and I’m so lucky to have a choice for once for something I actually want.
