Notes from the dealer
Pragmatic buyers searching for a family SUV that balances comfort, advanced features, and low long-term hassle will find the Explorer XLT a smart fit. It features heated ActiveX captainâs chairs, 2nd row bucket seats, and dual zone climate control, ideal for daily commutes or Iowaâs varying seasons. The non-smoker ownership history and 172-point inspection assure peace of mind. Its capability suits families, road-trippers, and those navigating both city streets and unpredictable Midwest weather.
This SUV offers a 2.3L EcoBoost I-4 engine paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission and 4WD, emphasizing efficiency and reduced service needs. Fordâs EcoBoost engines are known for delivering power while keeping fuel costs in check, and the 10-speed automatic helps maintain smooth acceleration and optimal engine performance over high mileages. The Explorerâs drivetrain is built to minimize frequent repairs, supporting a reputation for running strong well past 150,000 miles when serviced regularly.
Active safety technology adds to the Explorerâs ownership value by protecting your investment and occupants. Blind Spot Monitoring, a rear camera, Electronic Stability Control, and ABS brakes work with Emergency communication via SYNC 3 911 Assist to reduce accident risk. Reverse Sensing and Auto High-beam Headlights further minimize day-to-day hazards, so you can expect fewer unexpected repair bills and greater peace of mind as your familyâs needs evolve.
This Explorer XLT includes the Equipment Group 202A and Class IV Trailer Tow Package, bringing benefits like Intelligent Cruise, Power Liftgate, heated steering wheel, and SYNC 3 with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto. The 12-speaker system, rear air conditioning, and power driver/passenger seats enhance comfort for all passengers. Remote Start and SecuriCode Keyless Entry Keypad simplify access and winter mornings, while the power liftgate streamlines shopping runs or loading bulky cargo.
Compared to segment alternatives like the Chevrolet Traverse and Honda Pilot, the Explorerâs Gold Certified status and transferable warranty provide greater long-term cost protection. While some competitors may offer similar features, this SUVâs Ford-backed inspection, longer warranty coverage, and strong resale reputation help offset expected depreciation and lower overall cost of ownershipâ"especially for buyers prioritizing reliability and protection.
Routine oil changes and scheduled services are straightforward under the Gold Certified program, with 22,000 FordPass Rewards Points helping cover the first two maintenance visits. The 2.3L EcoBoost is designed for efficiency in city and highway conditions, and Fordâs reputation for long-term reliability means fewer unexpected expenses as the miles add up. Warranty coverage extends to major powertrain components and is transferable if you sell.

So far so good - smooth ride - plenty of power for a 2.3 liter 4 cyl which coming from someone who drove a 5.0 V8 for 20 yrs- much better on gas - 4.0
Served our family well!

Trading my car in next week, I am gonna miss my Explorer. It’s been a good family car. Draw backs: the screen is glitchy at times. Some electronics malfunctioned and I won’t lie, they can be costly to fix. Comfortable, spacious. I never had any mechanical problems with the car, but I did take very good care of it at well. I maintained all recommended services and any replacements were all genuine Ford parts. I hope whoever buys our car, loves it as much as we did. - 5.0
2025 Ford Explorer Active, RWD

Hello everyone! I had this car for about 3 months and I absolutely love it! I love how reliable it is and how quick it can get when it’s needed. The 3rd row is tight, it is a mid-size SUV after all. If you have a bigger family, I would suggest getting a full size SUV. Unfortunately, there are a few issues that I’ve noticed. 1. Sometimes, the car stalls/jerks a little bit when accelerating. It doesn’t happen much. 2. On the infotainment screen, I can’t download or update any apps. It says pending and it keeps spinning over and over again. (it is a computer after all) I have an appointment soon to get these issues fixed but other than that, it’s been amazing. I am so very grateful for this car. It is my first real car I’ve ever had and I’m so lucky to have a choice for once for something I actually want.
