Notes from the dealer
Parents managing daily routines and weekend adventures will appreciate the Explorer's rear bench third row and second-row bucket seats, allowing for multiple child seats and simple access to the back. In Iowaâs changing weather, four-wheel drive enhances confidence for school runs or family outings. The spacious interior suits a range of family life stages, from young children needing car seats to teens requiring extra legroom.
Powered by a 2.3L EcoBoost I-4 engine paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission, the Explorer balances smooth acceleration for merging onto highways with efficient cruising for long family road trips. Four-wheel drive enables sure-footed performance on slippery roads or gravel driveways, and the suspension delivers a stable, composed ride even with a full cabin and loaded cargo area.
Safety is a top priority, with active features like Blind Spot Monitoring to alert you to vehicles in adjacent lanes and a Rear Camera for confident reversing near playgrounds or crowded parking lots. The LATCH system ensures secure car seat installation, and an emergency communication system (SYNC 3 911 Assist) offers quick access to help if needed. Multiple airbags, including knee and side coverage, help protect every passenger for true peace of mind.
This Explorer XLT features heated ActiveX captainâs chairs, dual-zone climate control for personalized comfort, a heated steering wheel for cold mornings, and second-row bucket seats for easier third-row access. The Power Liftgate simplifies loading groceries or sports equipment, while SYNC 3 with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto keeps the whole family connected. Remote Start and reverse sensing add convenience for busy parents.
Compared to the Honda Pilot and Toyota Highlander, the Explorer stands out with its available four-wheel drive and advanced driver assistance features. The split-folding rear seats offer more cargo versatility, while the Power Liftgate and heated seating are competitive advantages for family comfort. Its Gold Certified status and non-smoker history reinforce lasting value and reliability for family use.
How many car seats fit in the back? The Explorerâs second-row bucket seats and third-row bench allow for multiple child seats with accessible LATCH anchors. Is it safe for kids and teens? Yes, with Blind Spot Monitoring, a Rear Camera, and comprehensive airbags for all rows. Does it have rear-seat reminder systems? SYNC 3 911 Assist enhances emergency readiness. How easy is third-row access? Second-row bucket seats allow children or adults to reach the third row smoothly, supporting busy family routines.

So far so good - smooth ride - plenty of power for a 2.3 liter 4 cyl which coming from someone who drove a 5.0 V8 for 20 yrs- much better on gas - 4.0
Served our family well!

Trading my car in next week, I am gonna miss my Explorer. It’s been a good family car. Draw backs: the screen is glitchy at times. Some electronics malfunctioned and I won’t lie, they can be costly to fix. Comfortable, spacious. I never had any mechanical problems with the car, but I did take very good care of it at well. I maintained all recommended services and any replacements were all genuine Ford parts. I hope whoever buys our car, loves it as much as we did. - 5.0
2025 Ford Explorer Active, RWD

Hello everyone! I had this car for about 3 months and I absolutely love it! I love how reliable it is and how quick it can get when it’s needed. The 3rd row is tight, it is a mid-size SUV after all. If you have a bigger family, I would suggest getting a full size SUV. Unfortunately, there are a few issues that I’ve noticed. 1. Sometimes, the car stalls/jerks a little bit when accelerating. It doesn’t happen much. 2. On the infotainment screen, I can’t download or update any apps. It says pending and it keeps spinning over and over again. (it is a computer after all) I have an appointment soon to get these issues fixed but other than that, it’s been amazing. I am so very grateful for this car. It is my first real car I’ve ever had and I’m so lucky to have a choice for once for something I actually want.
