Notes from the dealer
Shoppers comparing several three-row SUVs will appreciate that this Explorer XLT is especially well-suited for families or active individuals who need flexible seating and cargo configurations. The 2nd row bucket seats, 3rd row bench, and rear air conditioning help keep everyone comfortable on long trips or daily school runs. In regions with changing weather like Sw Mt Vernon, IA, the 4WD system ensures year-round traction and confidence, which some rivals only offer as an upgrade. With a non-smoker history, this SUV also appeals to buyers prioritizing a clean interior environment.
While competitors like the Honda Pilot and Chevrolet Traverse offer V6 engines, the Explorer delivers a responsive 2.3L EcoBoost I-4 paired with a smooth 10-speed automatic transmission, optimizing both power and efficiency for daily driving. The 4WD system provides added control in slippery conditions, and the Explorerâs suspension is tuned for a balanced rideâ"making it equally adept at highway cruising and tackling winding roads. The intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control with Speed Sign Recognition further enhances long-distance comfort, a feature not always standard with rivals.
Safety is a major strength of this SUV, with Ford Co-Pilot360 Assist+ providing standard features such as Blind Spot Monitoring, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keep Assist, Rear Camera, and Evasive Steering Assist. While some competitors require higher trims or added packages for similar safety tech, the Explorer makes these available right from the XLT trim. Active safety gear like Reverse Sensing and Adaptive Cruise Control help drivers stay alert and protected, and SYNC 3 911 Assist ensures rapid emergency connectivity if needed.
The Explorer XLT includes a premium suite of features designed for convenience and enjoyment. Navigation, a moonroof, heated steering wheel, dual-zone climate control, and remote start system are all equipped. The 12-speaker audio system and SYNC 3 infotainment keep everyone connected, while a power liftgate and SecuriCode Keyless Entry Keypad simplify loading and access. Equipment Group 202A brings heated ActiveX Captainâs Chairs for front-row comfort in all seasons, and the 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot supports on-the-go device use.
Compared to the Chevrolet Traverse and Honda Pilot, the Explorer XLT distinguishes itself with standard 4WD, more advanced standard safety features, and a turbocharged engine that delivers strong performance without sacrificing efficiency. Unique features like the heated steering wheel and power liftgate, which often cost extra on competitors, are included. This makes the Explorer a high-value pick for families and drivers who want more technology and flexibility at the same price point.
Buyers often ask why to choose the Explorer over a Pilot or Traverseâ"itâs the standard 4WD, advanced safety suite, and flexible interior that set it apart. This SUV delivers extra comfort with 2nd row bucket seats and heated features, making it ideal for families or those needing adaptable space. The included Ford Gold Certified warranty and non-smoker history add peace of mind.

So far so good - smooth ride - plenty of power for a 2.3 liter 4 cyl which coming from someone who drove a 5.0 V8 for 20 yrs- much better on gas - 4.0
Served our family well!

Trading my car in next week, I am gonna miss my Explorer. It’s been a good family car. Draw backs: the screen is glitchy at times. Some electronics malfunctioned and I won’t lie, they can be costly to fix. Comfortable, spacious. I never had any mechanical problems with the car, but I did take very good care of it at well. I maintained all recommended services and any replacements were all genuine Ford parts. I hope whoever buys our car, loves it as much as we did. - 5.0
2025 Ford Explorer Active, RWD

Hello everyone! I had this car for about 3 months and I absolutely love it! I love how reliable it is and how quick it can get when it’s needed. The 3rd row is tight, it is a mid-size SUV after all. If you have a bigger family, I would suggest getting a full size SUV. Unfortunately, there are a few issues that I’ve noticed. 1. Sometimes, the car stalls/jerks a little bit when accelerating. It doesn’t happen much. 2. On the infotainment screen, I can’t download or update any apps. It says pending and it keeps spinning over and over again. (it is a computer after all) I have an appointment soon to get these issues fixed but other than that, it’s been amazing. I am so very grateful for this car. It is my first real car I’ve ever had and I’m so lucky to have a choice for once for something I actually want.
