Notes from the dealer
Parents seeking a safe and adaptable family vehicle will appreciate the SUV's versatile seven-passenger cabin, ideal for both daily school runs and weekend escapes. The heated second-row captain's chairs deliver individual comfort and easy third-row access, which is especially valuable when accommodating multiple car seats or managing children of different ages. For families in the Sw Mt Vernon, IA area, the Explorer XLT's four-wheel-drive system offers confidence in all weather conditions, making it suitable for snowy commutes and summer road trips alike. The non-smoker ownership further assures a clean, allergen-conscious interior for kids and adults.
With a 2.3L EcoBoost I-4 engine paired to a 10-speed automatic transmission, the Explorer XLT delivers smooth, predictable acceleration even when the cabin is full or the trunk is loaded. Its four-wheel-drive capability translates to steady control during rain or snow, letting families travel with peace of mind regardless of the season. The SUV's suspension and quiet cabin provide a comfortable ride for both front and rear passengers, reducing fatigue on longer journeys. The active driving assist features ensure stability and confidence when navigating highways or city streets with the whole family on board.
Family safety is paramount in the Explorer XLT, which integrates Ford Co-Pilot360 Assist+ with essential technologies for protecting what matters most. The suite includes Blind Spot Monitoring to alert parents to vehicles in adjacent lanes, Lane Keep Assist and Lane Departure Warning to help prevent unintentional drifting, and a Rear Camera for safer backing in driveways or parking lots. Dual front, side, knee, and overhead airbags extend coverage to all three rows, while LATCH anchor points make securing car seats straightforward. The rear seat reminder and Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control add further reassurance during busy family routines.
Feature highlights focus on comfort, connectivity, and convenience for families. The Explorer XLT's heated front seats and steering wheel make cold mornings easier, while tri-zone climate control keeps all passengers comfortable. The SYNC 3 system with navigation and 12 speakers delivers entertainment and guidance for road trips.
Against family-focused rivals like the Honda Pilot and Toyota Highlander, the Explorer stands out with its turbocharged engine and standard safety features tailored to busy parents.
How many car seats fit in the back? The Explorer XLT supports multiple car seats with LATCH anchors in both the second and third rows. Is it safe for kids and teens? Yes, comprehensive airbag coverage and advanced driver-assist systems provide peace of mind for families of all ages. Does it have a rear seat reminder? Yes, helping ensure nothing is left behind after errands or school drop-offs. What about warranty coverage?

So far so good - smooth ride - plenty of power for a 2.3 liter 4 cyl which coming from someone who drove a 5.0 V8 for 20 yrs- much better on gas - 4.0
Served our family well!

Trading my car in next week, I am gonna miss my Explorer. It’s been a good family car. Draw backs: the screen is glitchy at times. Some electronics malfunctioned and I won’t lie, they can be costly to fix. Comfortable, spacious. I never had any mechanical problems with the car, but I did take very good care of it at well. I maintained all recommended services and any replacements were all genuine Ford parts. I hope whoever buys our car, loves it as much as we did. - 5.0
2025 Ford Explorer Active, RWD

Hello everyone! I had this car for about 3 months and I absolutely love it! I love how reliable it is and how quick it can get when it’s needed. The 3rd row is tight, it is a mid-size SUV after all. If you have a bigger family, I would suggest getting a full size SUV. Unfortunately, there are a few issues that I’ve noticed. 1. Sometimes, the car stalls/jerks a little bit when accelerating. It doesn’t happen much. 2. On the infotainment screen, I can’t download or update any apps. It says pending and it keeps spinning over and over again. (it is a computer after all) I have an appointment soon to get these issues fixed but other than that, it’s been amazing. I am so very grateful for this car. It is my first real car I’ve ever had and I’m so lucky to have a choice for once for something I actually want.
