Notes from the dealer
Shoppers weighing several family-friendly sports SUVs will find this Explorer ideal for those prioritizing a balance of spirited performance, cabin refinement, and advanced comfort features. The ST trimâs 2nd Row Bucket Seats and heated 2nd row seating cater to families needing versatile, comfortable travel, whether for daily commutes or trips through Eastern Iowaâs changing seasons. Fordâs Gold Certified status and transferable warranties deliver peace of mind, making this SUV the smart pick for buyers who demand both excitement and long-term reliability.
While rivals like the Blazer RS and Durango R/T offer V6 engines, this SUVâs 3.0L EcoBoost V6 and 10-speed automatic transmission deliver strong, confident acceleration and smooth gear changes for highway merging and spirited backroad drives. Four-wheel drive provides additional traction over wet or snowy roads, outshining some competitorsâ standard setups. The Explorerâs precise steering and independent suspension mean it remains agile and composed, even with a full load of passengers and cargo.
Safety equipment in this SUV is extensive and often standard where other models require upgrades. Features like Blind Spot Monitoring, Lane Keep Assist, Lane Departure Warning, and a 360 Degree Camera bolster driver awareness in every scenario. Adaptive and Intelligent Cruise Control simplify long stretches of highway travel, while automatic high-beam headlights and rain-sensing wipers further reduce fatigue. The Explorerâs comprehensive suite ensures confidence, especially in unpredictable conditions, and active safety tech is not left behind as an optional extra.
The ST trimâs Equipment Group 400A Standard Package includes premier conveniences such as heated and ventilated Miko Sport Captainâs Chairs, a power liftgate for easy loading, and a Bang & Olufsen 10-speaker sound system. Dual-zone climate control, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, and a heated steering wheel round out the luxury experience. The FordPass Connect 5G ensures seamless connectivity, while remote keyless entry and memory seating simplify daily use. These features combine to deliver comfort and tech usually reserved for higher price brackets.
Against the Chevrolet Blazer RS and Dodge Durango R/T, the Explorer ST distinguishes itself with Ford Gold Certified benefitsâ"such as a 172-point inspection, 12-month/12,000-mile limited warranty, and 84-month/100,000-mile powertrain coverage. This comprehensive certification is unique to Ford and unavailable on most rivals, increasing resale confidence. The SUVâs versatile seating and advanced tech come standard, avoiding costly option packages required with competitors. Buyers in Sw Mt Vernon, IA, also benefit from an SUV engineered for Midwest weather and family outings.
Many ask why they should choose this SUV over the Blazer RS or Durango R/T. The answer lies in its superior balance of power, standard safety tech, and true luxury features at no extra cost. Unlike the competition, the Explorer offers heated 2nd row seats and ventilated front seats as standard ST trim fare.

So far so good - smooth ride - plenty of power for a 2.3 liter 4 cyl which coming from someone who drove a 5.0 V8 for 20 yrs- much better on gas - 4.0
Served our family well!

Trading my car in next week, I am gonna miss my Explorer. It’s been a good family car. Draw backs: the screen is glitchy at times. Some electronics malfunctioned and I won’t lie, they can be costly to fix. Comfortable, spacious. I never had any mechanical problems with the car, but I did take very good care of it at well. I maintained all recommended services and any replacements were all genuine Ford parts. I hope whoever buys our car, loves it as much as we did. - 5.0
2025 Ford Explorer Active, RWD

Hello everyone! I had this car for about 3 months and I absolutely love it! I love how reliable it is and how quick it can get when it’s needed. The 3rd row is tight, it is a mid-size SUV after all. If you have a bigger family, I would suggest getting a full size SUV. Unfortunately, there are a few issues that I’ve noticed. 1. Sometimes, the car stalls/jerks a little bit when accelerating. It doesn’t happen much. 2. On the infotainment screen, I can’t download or update any apps. It says pending and it keeps spinning over and over again. (it is a computer after all) I have an appointment soon to get these issues fixed but other than that, it’s been amazing. I am so very grateful for this car. It is my first real car I’ve ever had and I’m so lucky to have a choice for once for something I actually want.
