Notes from the dealer
Pragmatic buyers searching for a dependable and well-equipped SUV will appreciate the Explorer's durability and comfort-focused features. With its non-smoker history and a Platinum trim loaded with conveniences like leather seating, heated and cooled seats, and a power moonroof, it suits drivers who expect their vehicle to handle family needs, year-round weather, and weekend adventures. Given the climate and varying road conditions in Eastern Iowa, the advanced 4WD system and all-weather amenities help this SUV deliver value and security over the long run.
A 2.3L EcoBoost I-4 engine paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission offers a well-balanced blend of power and efficiency. The Explorer's powertrain is engineered for longevity, supported by Ford's reputation for SUVs regularly surpassing 150,000 miles with proper care. Its four-wheel drive and independent suspension make it adept at managing both daily commutes and long road trips, while the Platinum edition's engineering enhances both driving confidence and lower maintenance needs over time.
Safety features on this SUV are tailored to protect both your investment and your family. Advanced systems like Blind Spot Monitoring, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keep Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, and a 360 Degree Camera help prevent accidents and reduce repair costs over the life of the vehicle. Active safety equipment such as ABS brakes and Electronic Stability Control not only lower the risk of collision but can also translate into reduced insurance premiums, further improving total ownership economics.
The Platinum trim is packed with features that reduce day-to-day hassle and keep the vehicle comfortable and connected. Highlights include a heated steering wheel, heated and cooled front seats, heated second-row seats, navigation, and a B&O Sound System by Bang & Olufsen. The 4WD system, power liftgate, and power-fold third-row seats add flexibility for families or anyone needing to adapt quickly to changing cargo and passenger needs. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration support seamless smartphone use.
When comparing ownership costs within the midsize SUV segment, the Explorer Platinum's combination of a transferable 84-month/100,000-mile powertrain warranty and a 12-month/12,000-mile limited warranty means lower risk than competitors like the Chevrolet Traverse High Country or Honda Pilot Elite. Ford's Gold Certified program and included maintenance points provide additional savings, while the Explorer's strong resale value and proven reliability make it a more stable long-term choice.
Owners commonly ask about maintenance intervals, fuel costs, and reliability. The Explorer's certified status includes 22,000 FordPass Rewards Points, covering routine maintenance for the first two visits, easing initial costs. Ford's EcoBoost engines are engineered for efficient city and highway driving, though specific mpg figures are not provided here. Oil changes and service intervals follow Ford's standard schedule, supporting predictable upkeep.

So far so good - smooth ride - plenty of power for a 2.3 liter 4 cyl which coming from someone who drove a 5.0 V8 for 20 yrs- much better on gas - 4.0
Served our family well!

Trading my car in next week, I am gonna miss my Explorer. It’s been a good family car. Draw backs: the screen is glitchy at times. Some electronics malfunctioned and I won’t lie, they can be costly to fix. Comfortable, spacious. I never had any mechanical problems with the car, but I did take very good care of it at well. I maintained all recommended services and any replacements were all genuine Ford parts. I hope whoever buys our car, loves it as much as we did. - 5.0
2025 Ford Explorer Active, RWD

Hello everyone! I had this car for about 3 months and I absolutely love it! I love how reliable it is and how quick it can get when it’s needed. The 3rd row is tight, it is a mid-size SUV after all. If you have a bigger family, I would suggest getting a full size SUV. Unfortunately, there are a few issues that I’ve noticed. 1. Sometimes, the car stalls/jerks a little bit when accelerating. It doesn’t happen much. 2. On the infotainment screen, I can’t download or update any apps. It says pending and it keeps spinning over and over again. (it is a computer after all) I have an appointment soon to get these issues fixed but other than that, it’s been amazing. I am so very grateful for this car. It is my first real car I’ve ever had and I’m so lucky to have a choice for once for something I actually want.
