Dealer Notes
The 2025 Ford Maverick XLT stands out as the smart choice for buyers comparing it to the Hyundai Santa Cruz and Honda Ridgeline by delivering AWD versatility, turbocharged performance, and impressive tech at a more accessible entry point. Its blend of 22/30 city/highway MPG and a robust 2.0L EcoBoost engine offers a compelling balance of power and efficiency for urban and outdoor lifestyles alike.
Shoppers weighing multiple compact trucks will appreciate how the Maverick XLT meets varied daily needs. Its AWD and 8-speed automatic transmission handle Midwest winters and unpaved trails with confidence, while features like Apple CarPlay/Android Auto and SYNC 4 keep commutes connected. This truck best suits drivers who need versatilityâ"balancing city practicality, family trips, and weekend adventures in one vehicle.
While the Santa Cruz emphasizes style and the Ridgeline targets full-size comfort, the Maverick XLT delivers a turbocharged 2.0L I4 engine and smooth 8-speed automatic transmission for responsive acceleration without sacrificing fuel economy. Its 2.91 axle ratio and four-wheel independent suspension give it an agile, car-like feel, while the AWD system provides extra grip when conditions demand more than the competitionâs front-wheel-drive setups.
Safety comes standard, with Ford Co-Pilot360 1.0 offering automatic emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, lane-keeping assist, and a rear-view cameraâ"all standard where competitors may reserve them for higher trims. This truckâs suite includes advanced ABS, traction control, emergency communication via SYNC 4 911 Assist, and a full array of airbags, ensuring peace of mind during every drive.
The XLT trim with Equipment Group 302A and XLT Luxury Package brings comfort and convenience upgrades: unique cloth bucket seats, automatic temperature control, 12-speaker audio, SiriusXM with 360L, remote keyless entry, and a 17-inch alloy wheel design. Functional features like a rear step bumper, fully automatic headlights, and steering wheel audio controls enhance daily usability, while tech integrations simplify every journey.
Against the Santa Cruz and Ridgeline, the Maverick XLT holds its ground with superior valueâ"delivering AWD, turbo power, and key safety tech as standard. While rivals may boast upscale touches or marginally more cargo space, this modelâs efficiency, lower ownership costs, and everyday practicality make it a standout in the compact truck segment for high-value seekers.
Choosing the Maverick XLT means selecting a truck that prioritizes versatility, advanced standard safety technology, and strong connectivity. It offers AWD capability absent from some rivals at this price point, integrates driver-assist features as standard, and presents a proven EcoBoost engine. Buyers often ask which compact truck balances price, tech, and real-world utilityâ"the Maverick XLT answers confidently on all counts.

A solid choice
By Jdav | on Sunday, January 29, 2023
I’ve had my Lariat for 6 months now and I am happy with it. Although the entry models are very well priced for a brand new vehicle, I chose the Lariat without any upgrade packages as the XL & XLT do not have the current “luxuries” that most would consider standard in a new vehicle. (Push start, dash screen, “leather” seats) The Maverick is the perfect vehicle to suit work and everyday life without breaking the bank. Pros: well priced, well designed interior with ample storage, good on gas, comfortable seats, strong engine, great handling and overall feel without the overbearing ride and size of a truck. Cons: engine auto stop/start cannot be permanently disengaged, sync/bluetooth system can be glitchy on occasion, wind noise at highway speed is noticeable, adding extras to your build can get very pricey.… - 5.0
If you miss the Ford Rangers from the 90's
By Maverick Guy | on Friday, September 30, 2022
It took me a year, but this past summer my Ford Maverick finally came in. I got the XLT trim with only 2 options, the Blind Spot and the 2.0 Eco Boost engine for more power. So far, it has been a great truck. If I watch my rpm.s, in the econ mode I get 30 mpg around town and on the hwy. The only issue so far is a clicking type rattle in my dash that only happens on certain slow bumps in my neighborhood, once I am on the highway it goes away. Strange. Anyway, if you miss the Ford Rangers from the 90s, this truck reminds me of a 1996 Ranger I used to have back then. It is a very solid truck, loads of room in the cabin, great bed to work with, and since it is front wheel drive I am looking fwd to seeing how it does in the snow this winter. If you order one, get the Lariat, for a few thousand more it is worth it. Hope this review helps ! PS, I was thinking of ordering a 2023 Ford Bronco 2 door, but when I sat in one at a local car show, I realized my Maverick was much more roomier and comfortable than the full size Bronco. I will stick with my Maverick !… - 5.0
2 Maverick Family

Reviewed my 22 lariat AWD last year when I’d had it for 2 days gave it a 4 star after owning it 18 months and 29K miles I’d raise my satisfaction rate to 4.7 stars. Great milage averaging 33mpg. Like it so much bought the wife a slightly used 23 lariat hybrid. Like it even better than the AWD after 4K and 1 month ownership averaging 46mpg that’s 75% highway. Pros: mileage on either hybrid or AWD model, ride is not too bad, fells planted to road, adaptive cruise/ lane keep/ aeb braking. Easy to park Cons: no power passenger seat, no fog lights, door pockets are worthless can’t keep travel mug or bottled water in as they won’t fit, ice scraper falls out every time open or close door. no auto dimming rear view mirror, bed leaks with installed cover, not enough room to adjust power seat with door closed. If Ford would fix a few minor things they’d have the perfect truck.…
