Cedar Rapids is Iowa's second largest city with just under 130,000 residents. In 1930 Grant Wood painted The American Gothic in his studio located in Cedar Rapids. The Cedar Rapids Museum of Art now owns Grant Wood's studio which is the home to the largest collection of Grant Wood's work in the world. Cedar Rapids, IA was ranked No. 1 in Iowa for the "Top 100 Best Places to Live" list by Livability.com, and came in 29th in the nation. Brucemore

Brucemore was known as the "The grandest house west of Chicago" after it was built in 1884. This 19th century mansion is approximately 15,000 square feet. There are 14 fireplaces, 21 "main" rooms, and four floors. In the 1880s it was valued at $55,000. Brucemore Website
