The City of Solon is located in Johnson County in eastern Iowa. it is located a few miles from Lake MacBride State Park which offers fishing, camping, biking, and boating. Stone Academy
Stone Academy was a public school built in 1842 and was used through 1953. It is located north of Solon, IA along the west side of Iowa Highway 1. This road was the Old Military Road linking Dubuque to Iowa City. This school was also known as the Big Grove Township School #1.
