Notes from the dealer
Parents managing school drop-offs and weekend activities benefit from the Traverse RSâs second-row bucket seats that ease car-seat installation and allow kids to move to the third row with minimal fuss. The power-folding third row quickly expands cargo space for family trips or sports tournaments. In climates like Sw Mt Vernon, IA, the all-wheel drive system delivers confidence during winter commutes or summer road trips, while the non-smoker owner history assures a cleaner cabin environment for children.
A 2.5L DOHC engine paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission balances responsive acceleration with family-focused efficiency. With 19 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway, this SUV provides practical fuel economy for daily errands and longer vacations. The AWD system adds grip on slick roads, and the smooth ride ensures comfort even when the cabin is full. Quiet highway cruising and precise steering make extended drives less tiring for parents and more enjoyable for passengers.
Family safety is elevated through a comprehensive suite of active features, including Blind Spot Monitoring, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keep Assist, and a 360 Degree Camera for enhanced awareness when parking or navigating busy lots. Adaptive cruise and intelligent cruise controls help maintain safe distances in traffic. Multiple airbags, electronic stability control, and a rear seat reminder system further support peace of mind, keeping both young children and teens protected where it matters most.
The Traverse RS features leather-appointed seats, heated and cooled front seats, heated second-row seats, and a heated steering wheel for all-season comfort. The moonroof brings natural light into the cabin, while dual-zone climate control keeps the temperature just right for every passenger. The infotainment system includes a 17.7" diagonal display, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto compatibility, and a Bose Premium 10-Speaker Audio System, ensuring connectivity and entertainment on every drive. Navigation and rain-sensing wipers add further convenience.
Against competitors like the Ford Explorer and Honda Pilot, this SUV stands out with amenities such as power-fold third-row seats and a hands-free liftgate, features that simplify life for parents juggling kids and gear. The standard AWD provides an advantage in unpredictable weather, while comfort touches like ventilated seats and a heated steering wheel are less common in rivals. The Traverseâs blend of family-focused technology and proven reliability makes it a practical choice in the three-row segment.
Can this SUV fit three car seats? Yes, with second-row bucket seats and a split-bench third row, the cabin is well-suited for multiple child seats or boosters. How does the Traverse support teen driver safety? Features like Lane Keep Assist, Blind Spot Monitoring, and rear seat reminder help new drivers form safe habits and alert parents if a seatbelt is unbuckled.

Mean looking SUV that looks more like a truck

Man, Chevrolet just hit it out of the park with this one. The redesigned 2024 Traverse looks like a truck. Bigger than any other mid-sized SUV, more space compared to all midsize SUVs, best looking mid sized SUV. Everything is grand and big. Very comfortable seats. Engine is 4-cyl with turbo and works adequately. Will make a sound when accelerated or pushed hard but not a deal breaker. The infotainment system/screen and tech is amazing. Rear view camera, park assist, 360 degree camera. Ambient lighting. Mind blown! My first American car after having 4 japanese cars (3 Mazdas and 1 Suzuki) and 1 German (BMW). I am amazed. Hopefully this wont break because I am hearing complaints about failed transmission from some Z71 AWD twin clutch vehicles. I get an average of about 22 in city and 28 on the highways. Wish there was a hybrid option but then I remembered Toyota Grand Highlander has a stop sale on their models. Honda pilot, Kia Telluride and Hyundai Palisade doesn't have as of writing this review in Sep 2024. Mazda CX-90 was my other choice but it has no space in the 3rd row and behind the 3rd row. This traverse a decent sized adult can easily fit in the 3rd row. The steering wheel is so thick and suspension very soft. Comfortable for families who love some flare!
