2024 Chevrolet Traverse RS
- Used
Notes from the dealer
Shoppers cross-shopping the Traverse RS with the Ford Explorer, Honda Pilot, or Toyota Highlander will appreciate its unique blend of upscale materials, heated and ventilated leather-appointed seats, and a power moonroofâ"all standard here. This SUV is especially well-suited for families and active drivers who need a flexible interior with split-bench third-row seating, plus the peace of mind that comes from advanced safety technologies. In the variable Midwest climate, standard AWD and heated features ensure year-round comfort and confidence for commutes or family getaways.
While some competitors stick with turbocharged four-cylinders, the Traverse RS employs a 2.5L DOHC engine paired to an 8-speed automatic and standard AWD, resulting in a confident, composed driving experience. The SUVâs power delivery and 8-speed transmission translate to smooth acceleration whether navigating city streets or taking on longer highway drives. With EPA ratings of 19 city and 24 highway MPG, it balances efficiency and capability, making it ideal for both daily errands and extended road trips.
Active safety is a core strength of this SUV. While rivals often reserve Blind Spot Monitoring, Lane Departure Warning, and Lane Keep Assist for pricier trims, the Traverse RS includes them as standard. Additional features like Adaptive Cruise Control, Reverse Sensing, and a rear parking camera are integrated to simplify low-speed maneuvers and highway cruising. Rain-sensing wipers and auto high-beam headlights further enhance visibility, giving drivers extra assurance in varied weather and light conditions.
This Traverse RS brings a long list of features that typically require added-cost packages on competitors. The cabin boasts perforated leather-appointed seating, a Bose 10-speaker premium audio system, navigation, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, and dual-zone climate control. Heated and ventilated front seats, heated second-row seats, a heated steering wheel, and a power liftgate cater to family comfort and convenience. The panoramic moonroof adds a premium touch for all passengers.
Compared to the Ford Explorer and Honda Pilot, the Traverse RS consistently offers more features as standard, especially in the realms of luxury seating and active safety. Its interior materials and advanced tech outpace the Pilotâs simpler approach, while the Explorer often requires upgrades for similar equipment. The Traverse RS also provides a striking, sporty aesthetic and standard AWD, giving it an edge for buyers seeking confident all-weather traction and a distinctive look without piling on extra packages.
Why choose the Traverse RS over competitors? It delivers more premium features and standard safety tech at this trim level than the Ford Explorer or Honda Pilot. What does it offer that others donât? The combination of ventilated front seats, heated second-row seats, and a Bose 10-speaker system comes standard.

Mean looking SUV that looks more like a truck

Man, Chevrolet just hit it out of the park with this one. The redesigned 2024 Traverse looks like a truck. Bigger than any other mid-sized SUV, more space compared to all midsize SUVs, best looking mid sized SUV. Everything is grand and big. Very comfortable seats. Engine is 4-cyl with turbo and works adequately. Will make a sound when accelerated or pushed hard but not a deal breaker. The infotainment system/screen and tech is amazing. Rear view camera, park assist, 360 degree camera. Ambient lighting. Mind blown! My first American car after having 4 japanese cars (3 Mazdas and 1 Suzuki) and 1 German (BMW). I am amazed. Hopefully this wont break because I am hearing complaints about failed transmission from some Z71 AWD twin clutch vehicles. I get an average of about 22 in city and 28 on the highways. Wish there was a hybrid option but then I remembered Toyota Grand Highlander has a stop sale on their models. Honda pilot, Kia Telluride and Hyundai Palisade doesn't have as of writing this review in Sep 2024. Mazda CX-90 was my other choice but it has no space in the 3rd row and behind the 3rd row. This traverse a decent sized adult can easily fit in the 3rd row. The steering wheel is so thick and suspension very soft. Comfortable for families who love some flare!
