Notes from the dealer
Enthusiasts who crave daily driving enjoyment will appreciate the Explorer XLTâs blend of responsive handling and comfort. Drivers attuned to steering weight and chassis balance will notice the Explorerâs confidence-inspiring setup, making winding roads and on-ramps a pleasure. Features like selectable drive modes and premium synthetic seats enhance long-haul comfort while maintaining a sporty ambiance.
Driving the Explorer is an experience defined by its turbocharged 2.3L EcoBoost I-4, which delivers brisk throttle response and sustained torque through a 10-speed automatic transmission. Gear changes are smooth yet quick, and the transmissionâs manual mode grants direct control for spirited driving. The four-wheel independent suspension settles confidently through sweepers, while speed-sensing steering adjusts weight for precise inputs, making the SUV playful yet composed.
Safety features in the Explorer are engineered to support, not override, driver engagement. Electronic Stability Control and Traction Control systems intervene subtly, allowing for dynamic cornering before stepping in to maintain grip. Emergency Brake Assist sharpens stopping power, and the rearview camera aids in confident maneuvering. Lane-keeping and blind spot systems add reassurance without diminishing the sense of control behind the wheel.
Key features like SYNC 3 with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto keep drivers connected and focused. The Equipment Group 202A and Ford Co-Pilot360 Assist+ package layer in adaptive cruise, automatic high beams, and a power liftgateâ"each enhancing usability while preserving the Explorerâs athletic personality. Heated mirrors, tri-zone climate control, and unique captainâs chairs underscore comfort and versatility without sacrificing driver focus.
Compared to competitors like the Chevrolet Traverse and Honda Pilot, the Explorer stands out with its sharper steering, turbocharged punch, and engaging chassis feedback. Where rivals may prioritize ride softness, this SUV prioritizes driver involvement, making it the more rewarding choice for those who value dynamic handling and excitement in everyday driving.
Is the Explorer engaging to drive? Absolutelyâ"its steering feel is communicative, and the turbo engine responds eagerly. In sport mode, the transmission holds gears assertively for immediate power delivery. On twisty roads, the suspension keeps the body flat and controlled, inviting drivers to push with confidence. The balance of performance and real-world comfort makes this SUV a standout for enthusiasts.

Served our family well!
by Beth on 2/19/2026 11:46:55 PM
Trading my car in next week, I am gonna miss my Explorer. It’s been a good family car. Draw backs: the screen is glitchy at times. Some electronics malfunctioned and I won’t lie, they can be costly to fix. Comfortable, spacious. I never had any mechanical problems with the car, but I did take very good care of it at well. I maintained all recommended services and any replacements were all genuine Ford parts. I hope whoever buys our car, loves it as much as we did. - 5.0
2025 Ford Explorer Active, RWD

Hello everyone! I had this car for about 3 months and I absolutely love it! I love how reliable it is and how quick it can get when it’s needed. The 3rd row is tight, it is a mid-size SUV after all. If you have a bigger family, I would suggest getting a full size SUV. Unfortunately, there are a few issues that I’ve noticed. 1. Sometimes, the car stalls/jerks a little bit when accelerating. It doesn’t happen much. 2. On the infotainment screen, I can’t download or update any apps. It says pending and it keeps spinning over and over again. (it is a computer after all) I have an appointment soon to get these issues fixed but other than that, it’s been amazing. I am so very grateful for this car. It is my first real car I’ve ever had and I’m so lucky to have a choice for once for something I actually want. - 4.0
