Notes from the dealer
Buyers who prioritize durability, strong resale value, and reliability will appreciate what this SUV offers. The Explorer STâs 4WD capability and robust drivetrain allow it to handle harsh weather and changing road conditions, which is especially useful in regions like Iowa where winters can be severe. With three rows of seating and flexible cargo space, it suits families, outdoor enthusiasts, and anyone needing dependable transportation for both daily and recreational use.
Performance and longevity are at the core of the Explorer STâs design. The 3.0L EcoBoost V6 engine and 10-speed automatic transmission provide responsive power for highway cruising or city driving, while the 4WD system ensures traction in rain, snow, or on gravel. Its EPA-estimated 18 MPG city and 24 MPG highway ratings help control fuel expenses, supporting a lower total cost of ownership for those who put plenty of miles on their vehicles each year.
Safety helps protect your investment, and this SUV is well equipped in that area. Features such as ABS brakes, electronic stability control, dual front and side impact airbags, a knee airbag, and an exterior parking camera rear provide active protection in various driving scenarios. The SYNC 3 911 Assist emergency communication system adds another layer of value by connecting you quickly to emergency services if needed, helping reduce potential long-term costs from accidents.
The Explorer STâs Equipment Group 401A brings a wealth of comfort and convenience features to daily driving. Heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and dual-zone automatic temperature control enhance comfort in all seasons. The SYNC 3 system with voice-activated touchscreen navigation, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto keeps drivers connected and on course, while the power liftgate and third-row bench seating maximize practicality for larger families or group travel.
Against segment competitors like the Chevrolet Traverse and Honda Pilot, the Explorer ST distinguishes itself with its 3.0L EcoBoost V6 and advanced connectivity features. While rivals may offer similar interior space, the Explorerâs combination of 4WD capability and proven reliability often supports stronger resale values, reducing long-term depreciation. Its balance of efficiency and performance further reinforces its appeal for cost-conscious SUV buyers.
What is the EPA-estimated fuel economy? The Explorer ST achieves 18 MPG in city driving and 24 MPG on the highway. Is this brand known for reliability? Fordâs history with the Explorer and EcoBoost V6 emphasizes long-term dependability in real-world use. What warranty coverage came with this vehicle? The original factory warranty included 5 years or 60,000 miles of powertrain protection, 5 years of corrosion coverage with unlimited miles, and 5 years or 60,000 miles of roadside assistance, offering confidence for the initial ownership period.

So far so good - smooth ride - plenty of power for a 2.3 liter 4 cyl which coming from someone who drove a 5.0 V8 for 20 yrs- much better on gas - 4.0
Served our family well!

Trading my car in next week, I am gonna miss my Explorer. It’s been a good family car. Draw backs: the screen is glitchy at times. Some electronics malfunctioned and I won’t lie, they can be costly to fix. Comfortable, spacious. I never had any mechanical problems with the car, but I did take very good care of it at well. I maintained all recommended services and any replacements were all genuine Ford parts. I hope whoever buys our car, loves it as much as we did.
