Notes from the dealer
Pragmatic buyers will find the Edge SEL especially appealing for its proven reputation and versatile set of features. With all-wheel drive and a heated steering wheel, itâs well-suited for Midwest winters and variable road conditions, providing peace of mind on commutes and family trips. The combination of comfortable ActiveX heated seats and practical cargo flexibility aligns with the needs of busy households or professionals who value comfort and reliability in their daily transportation.
Efficiency and longevity define the Edgeâs performance profile, thanks to the EcoBoost 2.0L I4 GTDi DOHC Turbocharged VCT engine and smooth 8-speed automatic transmission. This combination is engineered for robust operation over time, with a design that has earned a reputation for enduring well beyond the typical lifespan expected in this segment. All-wheel drive capabilities add extra confidence for those who regularly encounter rain, snow, or rougher roads, supporting reliable use year after year.
Safety features on this SUV contribute directly to long-term value by helping to protect your investment and your passengers. Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keep Assist, and a Rear Camera system help reduce the risk of accidents, while advanced systems like ABS brakes and Electronic Stability Control offer added reassurance in sudden maneuvers. These technologies are engineered to function seamlessly in everyday driving, supporting a record of dependable safety that underpins strong resale value.
The Edge SEL includes a range of comfort and convenience features designed to enhance daily usability and reduce long-term ownership costs. The Convenience Package adds practical touches like a power liftgate and wireless charging pad, making errands and family logistics easier. ActiveX Heated Bucket Seats, heated mirrors, dual-zone automatic climate control, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel deliver a premium feel without the maintenance demands of more complex luxury systems. The 12-speaker audio system and remote start enable a modern driving experience every time you get behind the wheel.
In comparison to other midsize SUVs such as the Honda Passport and Chevrolet Blazer, the Edge SEL maintains a competitive edge through its robust AWD system and strong history of reliability. Many buyers find that Fordâs reputation for durability translates to higher resale values and lower unexpected repair costs over time. While some rivals offer similar amenities, few match the Edgeâs blend of advanced safety features and practical luxury at this price point, meaning lower cost of ownership over the long haul.
Common questions about this SUV include: What is the EPA-rated fuel economy? The Edge SEL delivers 21 mpg city and 28 mpg highway, offering a balanced blend of power and efficiency for daily and long-distance driving. How reliable is the Edge brand? Fordâs legacy in the SUV segment is built on models engineered for durability and long service life, especially with the EcoBoost engine series.

Best Auto in My 64 Years of Owning cars
by Anonymous Reviewer on 7/7/2025 11:35:47 AM
I love my edge! I bought this car in the end of 2018 and have owed it for over 6 years. NO repairs needed. I am so happy not to have had it tied up for repairs as I am a REALTOR and drive part of every day. The only thing I have had done have been service. Keeping up with oil changes is so necessary. Oh, and I did replace the tires once.
