Notes from the dealer
Enthusiasts who value daily driving satisfaction will appreciate how this SUV transforms routine commutes and weekend escapes alike. The Edge SELâs finely weighted steering and balanced suspension deliver feedback drivers notice, making merging, passing, and navigating busy city streets more enjoyable. In regions with changing weather, like Eastern Iowa, the all-wheel-drive system and heated features add reassurance and comfort, supporting a spirited yet secure drive no matter the season.
Under the hood, the EcoBoost 2.0L I4 GTDi DOHC Turbocharged VCT engine responds crisply to throttle input, supplying smooth, linear power ideal for confident merging and relaxed cruising. Paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission, shifts are quick and unobtrusive, with the powertrain remaining composed whether accelerating onto highways or handling stop-and-go traffic. The suspension philosophy prioritizes stability and control, minimizing body roll in corners without sacrificing ride comfort. Every journey is underscored by a sense of calm authority, with road texture communicated just enough to keep drivers connected without harshness.
Safety systems on this Edge SEL are engineered to enhance, not intrude on, the driving experience. Electronic Stability Control subtly supports the driver during evasive maneuvers, intervening only when limits are approached. Lane Keep Assist provides gentle steering inputs to help maintain lane discipline, while Blind Spot Monitoring actively increases awareness during merges and lane changes. The Reverse Sensing System and rear camera streamline parking, boosting confidence in tight spaces without dulling the driverâs sense of control.
Convenience and comfort features are seamlessly integrated for driver engagement and enjoyment. The heated steering wheel and heated ActiveX Seating Material bucket seats deliver warmth and support during winter drives. Dual zone climate control ensures both driver and passenger comfort. The Convenience Package adds practical touches, while the power liftgate simplifies cargo access. Audio is immersive through a 12-speaker system (SiriusXM with 360L compatibility) and controls are intuitively placed on the leather-wrapped steering wheel, keeping the focus squarely on the road.
Against rivals like the Chevrolet Blazer and Honda Passport, the Edge SEL stands out for its distinctive balance of poised handling and real-world utility. Where some competitors prioritize either sport or comfort, this SUV finds a middle ground, offering enthusiast-calibrated steering and suspension within a versatile, family-friendly package. Its all-wheel-drive confidence and turbocharged engine give it an edge for drivers who want more than just basic transportation from their crossover.
Is the Edge SEL comfortable for long drives? The supportive seats, dual-zone climate, and quiet Ebony interior make extended journeys relaxing. How does it handle in poor weather? With AWD and stability aids, it remains sure-footed even as conditions change. Does it feel responsive in everyday driving? The turbocharged EcoBoost engine and quick-shifting 8-speed automatic create a lively, composed drive both in traffic and on open roads.

Best Auto in My 64 Years of Owning cars
by Anonymous Reviewer on 7/7/2025 11:35:47 AM
I love my edge! I bought this car in the end of 2018 and have owed it for over 6 years. NO repairs needed. I am so happy not to have had it tied up for repairs as I am a REALTOR and drive part of every day. The only thing I have had done have been service. Keeping up with oil changes is so necessary. Oh, and I did replace the tires once.
