The 2023 Ford Escape Active stands out for its exceptional value, delivering a wealth of standard features at a highly competitive price point versus other compact SUVs.

Analytical buyers seeking maximum return for their investment will appreciate how the Escape Active consolidates key convenience and safety features into its base configuration. Whether comparing spec sheets for commuting in the Sw Mt Vernon, IA area or prioritizing year-round all-wheel drive capability for variable weather, this SUV offers a rare combination of modern technology, premium amenities, and essential utilityâ€"all bundled into a single, highly-equipped trim level. Its non-smoker history further enhances long-term interior quality.

Performance in the Escape Active is engineered for efficient, real-world utility. The 1.5L EcoBoost engine paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and AWD delivers confident power delivery for daily driving, highway merging, and inclement conditions. With EPA ratings of 26 mpg city and 32 mpg highway, this SUV offers meaningful fuel savings over many rivals in the segment. The EcoBoost engine’s proven reliability also means cost-effective ownership, reducing potential maintenance outlays over time and helping stretch your dollar further.

Safety value is maximized with standard features such as Blind Spot Monitoring, Lane Keep Assist, Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop-and-Go, Speed Sign Recognition, and a Rear Camera. While many competitors offer these features only through expensive packages, the Escape Active includes them outright. The comprehensive suite of airbags, 4-wheel disc brakes, ABS, and electronic stability control further reinforces everyday safety, ensuring peace of mind for both driver and passengers without hidden costs.

Standard equipment on this SUV includes Connected Built-In Navigation, a heated steering wheel, heated front seats, a power driver seat, power liftgate, dual-zone automatic climate control, SiriusXM radio, and a 12-speaker audio system. The inclusion of Tech Pack #1 brings further technology enhancements, while thoughtful details like automatic temperature control and remote keyless entry contribute to everyday comfort and convenience. These features, bundled together, eliminate the need for costly add-ons and deliver instant usability from day one.

Compared to rivals like the Toyota RAV4 LE and Honda CR-V EX, the Escape Active outpaces in feature-to-price ratio. While competitors may require stepping up to mid-level or premium trims for navigation, heated seats, or advanced driver assistance, these are all standard in the Escape Active trim. This positions the model as a smarter financial decision for buyers prioritizing both upfront equipment and long-term ownership value, maximizing standard content without sacrificing quality or utility.

What’s included as standard equipment? Navigation, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, power liftgate, adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, and a 12-speaker audio system are all part of the base package. Is this vehicle worth the price? Given the extensive list of standard features and advanced safety tech, the Escape Active represents one of the best values in its class.

      Great performance highway/city/winters

      by Ed S on 8/25/2026 4:16:53 PM

Got the '21 SEL Hybrid used, and it's felt like a steal. I was moving from the south to the northern midwest, and needed a car that could hold family of 4+gear, had good mileage, good handling and driving all seasons, and really preferred some creature comforts. 3 months after purchase, I had to take it on the big test of 3k+ mile trip into the Dakotas, ending in a winter storm the last 250 miles. It handled everything wonderfully, and in comfort. MPG dropped to the low-mid 30's when I was doing pure highway, jumped up to low 40's with combo city/highway. No idea what people are complaining about on engine straining/noise, this thing has handled everything from driving 80 along the highways to climbing a steep grade hill during a blizzard. No issues at all, the AWD is a great need for my winters, and it's more modern features work well. My assumption is those complaining of engine noise/issues have had poor maintenance. I've kept up with mine very diligently, and have nice tires in place to help with winters here. The interesting positive is my year/model came with a map nav and sync as standard. So it has mapping/updating/etc all built in. But I never use it as I still prefer my phone Android Auto setup. Biggest complaint is it feels like there's just not quite enough space in the back, even when dropping the seats. You can fit luggage/hardware/gear in there, but you'll need to be creative. I ended up getting the roof rack as a fall-back for bigger things.

      Great SUV

by TucsonC on 4/28/2026 7:31:49 PM

Bought my car brand new February 2023. It’s a 2022 model sports package. Love the way it handles. rarely uses gas as I do mostly in town errands. Smaller than my previous Non plug-in Ford Escape, but actually like it that way. Backseat does fold down and plenty of rear cargo room.
