Notes from the dealer
Drivers comparing multiple SUVs for daily commutes, family trips, and year-round versatility will appreciate how this Escape balances upscale amenities with practical features. With all-wheel drive for confidence in Midwest winters and a power liftgate for easy loading, itâs especially well-suited for those in regions like Sw Mt Vernon, IA, where unpredictable weather and active lifestyles demand both comfort and capability. The SUV is ideal for buyers who want a refined cabin, intuitive tech, and the assurance of a proven powertrain.
While the RAV4 and CR-V each offer capable powertrains, this Escape sets itself apart with its EcoBoost 2.0L I4 GTDi DOHC Turbocharged VCT engine paired to an 8-speed automatic and standard AWD. This delivers brisk acceleration and confident handling in varied conditions, while EPA ratings of 23 city and 31 highway MPG ensure efficiency is not sacrificed. The Escapeâs smooth shifting and responsive steering make both urban and highway driving enjoyable, and its independent suspension system enhances ride comfort over rough surfaces.
Safety is a top priority in this SUV, with standard equipment including ABS brakes, electronic stability control, a rearview camera, rain-sensing wipers, and Fordâs SYNC 4 911 Assist emergency communication system. Many competitors reserve features like auto high-beam headlights and heated side mirrors for higher trims, but theyâre standard here, increasing peace of mind in challenging conditions. The suite of airbags, including knee, side impact, and overhead, further bolsters occupant protection.
The Platinum trimâs feature set is designed for those who demand more from their vehicle. Navigation with Connected Navigation, dual-zone automatic climate control, memory driver seat, and power-adjustable heated seats provide a luxury experience typically found only in premium brands. The inclusion of a power liftgate, remote keyless entry, and an advanced infotainment system with steering wheel audio controls means this SUV is equipped for both convenience and entertainment on every journey.
Compared to the Toyota RAV4 Limited and Honda CR-V Touring, the Escape Platinum delivers a more robust suite of standard amenities in its class. While rivals may highlight reliability or cargo space, this SUVâs blend of turbocharged performance, AWD confidence, and advanced tech gives it a clear advantage for buyers seeking a high-value, feature-rich compact SUV. Its transferable 5-year/60,000-mile powertrain warranty further enhances long-term ownership confidence.
Why choose the Escape Platinum over competitors? It offers luxury features and AWD as standard where others charge extra. What does this model provide that others donât? Heated ActiveX-trimmed front seats, a premium sound system, and rain-sensing wipers are included here.

Great performance highway/city/winters
by Ed S on 8/25/2026 4:16:53 PM
Got the '21 SEL Hybrid used, and it's felt like a steal. I was moving from the south to the northern midwest, and needed a car that could hold family of 4+gear, had good mileage, good handling and driving all seasons, and really preferred some creature comforts. 3 months after purchase, I had to take it on the big test of 3k+ mile trip into the Dakotas, ending in a winter storm the last 250 miles. It handled everything wonderfully, and in comfort. MPG dropped to the low-mid 30's when I was doing pure highway, jumped up to low 40's with combo city/highway. No idea what people are complaining about on engine straining/noise, this thing has handled everything from driving 80 along the highways to climbing a steep grade hill during a blizzard. No issues at all, the AWD is a great need for my winters, and it's more modern features work well. My assumption is those complaining of engine noise/issues have had poor maintenance. I've kept up with mine very diligently, and have nice tires in place to help with winters here. The interesting positive is my year/model came with a map nav and sync as standard. So it has mapping/updating/etc all built in. But I never use it as I still prefer my phone Android Auto setup. Biggest complaint is it feels like there's just not quite enough space in the back, even when dropping the seats. You can fit luggage/hardware/gear in there, but you'll need to be creative. I ended up getting the roof rack as a fall-back for bigger things. - 5.0

40 mpg city, 30+ mpg highway. Great acceleration and comfort. Can't be beat for it's low ticket price! - 5.0
Great SUV

Bought my car brand new February 2023. It’s a 2022 model sports package. Love the way it handles. rarely uses gas as I do mostly in town errands. Smaller than my previous Non plug-in Ford Escape, but actually like it that way. Backseat does fold down and plenty of rear cargo room.
