Notes from the dealer
Shoppers weighing competitors will find the Edge SEL especially compelling if they prioritize all-weather confidence, advanced safety, and everyday versatility. Its heated ActiveX-trimmed bucket seats, dual zone climate control, and power liftgate make it ideal for families or professionals who need comfort and convenience on daily commutes or road trips. Drivers in areas with variable weather, such as Iowa, will appreciate the standard AWD and heated steering wheel, delivering peace of mind through all seasons. If your shortlist includes models with similar features, this SUV wins on comprehensive practicality and thoughtful touches.
Compared to rivals which often pair similar engine displacements with front-wheel drive, the Edge SEL's EcoBoost 2.0L I4 GTDi DOHC Turbocharged VCT engine and standard 8-speed automatic transmission with AWD deliver responsive acceleration and composed handling. While some competitors may offer larger engines, the Edge's turbocharged setup ensures energetic performance without sacrificing fuel efficiency, achieving an EPA-estimated 21 mpg city and 28 mpg highway. This balance enables confident highway merging and reliable traction in slippery conditions, giving it a real-world advantage for diverse driving scenarios.
This SUV stands out for its standard suite of advanced active safety features, many of which are extra-cost options on other models. Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keep Assist, Blind Spot Monitoring, Rear Camera, and Reverse Sensing all work together to keep occupants safe, providing audible and visual alerts to help avoid hazards. Automatic high-beam headlights and rear parking sensors further enhance safety during nighttime driving and tricky parking situations. These standard systems make the Edge SEL one of the more proactive vehicles in its segment, offering buyers extra assurance without requiring costly upgrades.
The Edge SEL's Convenience Package adds navigation, a power liftgate, and heated steering wheel, translating to seamless road trips and easier cargo access. Inside, the Ebony interior features heated, ActiveX-trimmed front seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and dual-zone automatic climate control for year-round comfort. The SYNC 4 system with SiriusXM 360L and a 12-speaker audio system keeps everyone connected and entertained. With features like auto-dimming rearview mirror, remote keyless entry, and split folding rear seat, the Edge SEL is tailored for both driver enjoyment and family practicality.
When comparing the Edge SEL to the Chevrolet Blazer and Honda Passport, this SUV distinguishes itself with its combination of turbocharged efficiency, standard AWD, and comprehensive safety features.
Why choose the Edge SEL over competitors? It delivers more standard active safety equipment and AWD at this trim level than many rivals. What does it offer that others donât? The heated steering wheel, dual-zone climate control, and SYNC 4 navigation are included, enhancing comfort and connectivity.

Favorite Car Ever
by CaliSkiCat on 8/19/2026 7:13:49 PM
My titanium Edge has been my favorite car ever. I splurged on leather seating, cooled front seats, tow package, moon/sun roof. I get so many compliments anytime driving family or friends around. This AWD Edge handles highway traffic, rain, ice and snow with ease. First time taking a steep drive with ice and no chains handled like it was nothing (I did put Michelin cross climates on). I now live in the mountains so extra important in winters. It's a super comfortable AWD vehicle, not doing any 4x4ing but has pretty decent clearance. Only issue i have experienced is the tail gate had a issue with mechanism and warranty covered repair. Now it just sometimes lags and slow to raise. Otherwise a solid reliable vehicle hope it lasts well past it's 9th year come this fall 2026. Also mine is black and no signs of paint wear either. I did touch up the plastic trim after 7+ years that started to fade with cerakote trim coating and came back like brand new. I'm not ready to replace my Edge anytime soon (or ever). - 5.0
