Notes from the dealer
Parents with young children and families with teens will find the Edge especially accommodating, thanks to its versatile seating and intuitive cabin. The rear bench supports car seats using the LATCH system at outboard positions, while the split folding rear seat allows for both passenger and cargo flexibility. Families in transitionâ"whether expanding, carpooling, or adjusting for teen driversâ"benefit from features like remote start, power liftgate, and heated seats, ensuring comfort and convenience during hectic mornings and long drives.
This SUV's 2.0L EcoBoost turbocharged engine and 8-speed automatic transmission deliver smooth, quiet accelerationâ"perfect for not disturbing sleeping children during errands. All-wheel drive adds stability on wet or snowy roads, providing confidence with a full load of passengers or luggage. Its fuel efficiency ensures economical family road trips, while a 3.80 axle ratio provides modest towing capability for light trailers or weekend adventures, making it a well-rounded performer for active households.
Protecting what matters most, the Edge comes equipped with advanced safety features. Dual front, side, and knee airbags help shield all rows, while the LATCH anchors provide easy, secure child seat installation. Rear parking sensors assist in tight school lot maneuvers. The SYNC 4 911 Assist emergency communication system adds peace of mind, and the Perimeter Alarm helps safeguard your family. Although specific crash test ratings are not listed here, the SUVâs comprehensive airbag coverage and robust stability control systems ensure a secure environment for both kids and teens.
Family-focused amenities include ActiveX heated bucket seats for easy cleanup and comfort, a heated steering wheel, dual-zone automatic temperature control for climate harmony, and a power liftgate for hands-free cargo access. The Convenience Package brings remote start and a universal garage door opener, while the wireless charging pad keeps devices powered. The intuitive SYNC 4 infotainment system, 12-speaker audio, and rear reading lights all support entertaining and managing family routines on the go, while ample storage and configurable seating meet the demands of busy parents.
Compared to the Honda Passport and Chevrolet Blazer, the Edge excels in car seat compatibility, rear seat access, and active family features. While competitors may offer similar tech, they often fall short in LATCH usability or rear seat comfort. This SUVâs blend of flexible seating, child safety emphasis, and easy-to-clean interior sets it apart as a high-value choice for families prioritizing safety and convenience.
Three car seats can fit in the back, enabling secure transport of multiple children. The SUV is equipped with comprehensive airbags and stability control for peace of mind with kids or teens onboard. While specific crash test ratings are not detailed here, the model typically earns strong marks in industry testing.

Ford Has Really Stepped Up Its Game
by Craig on Friday, September 22, 2017
Went from a 2008 Acadia SLT to a 2017 Ford Edge Titanium because we are empty nesters and didnt need the extra space anymore. We were going to test drive an Explorer but spotted the Edge on showroom floor while we waiting and fell in love with its spaciousness and comfort but without the bulk. Have had it two months now and can honestly say, I wont drive anything else ....ever. The 2.0 Eco Boost 4-banger has a ton of low end torque and very little turbo lag with excellent acceleration. Its quiet, smooth tranny, and is much more nimble in heavy traffic than its size would suggest. The interior fit and finish is very solid and is packed with quality materials with soft touch surfaces everywhere you reside - luxury on a budget. The new Sync 3 system is one of the easiest head units to operate on the market. Ford has a huge winner in the Edge - simple yet elegant without the import price tag. The Edge punches way above its weight class. - 5.0
Better than any "luxury vehicle" I've owned
by KHavelka on Thursday, November 12, 2020
I absolutely love my Ford Edge. I've owned 3 different Lexus models, this vehicle is just as nice, more features. I own a loaded Titanium with ALL of the extras. We bought it gently used for a fraction of what a Lexus would cost with so many awesome features. 2 toned leather interior with cooled seats, heated seats (front and back), heated steering wheel, panoramic sun roof, ambient lighting, V6 motor with tow, parking assist, sensors all over, gorgeous interior, comfortable and quite ride, beautiful exterior and interior... Want me to keep going? I LOVE this car. Best vehicle I've owned. I've been driving it for over 3 years, normal maintenance. Would definitely recommend it. - 5.0
Great travel vehicle
by Jason on Monday, August 24, 2020
Having owned the car for 6 months it has turned out to be one of the best vehicles I have owned. Two kids (one in a car seat) have plenty of room in the backseat. Seats are comfy and the rear doors open wide enough for easy access to the car seat. Headlights and safety features are best in the class, kids love the interior lighting that you can change colors. Remote app on the phone and hotspot you can active for a month we’re great for our family vacation this year. Got 31.3mpg which is great for a vehicle this size. Heated wiper area will be nice to stop the wipers from snow buildup in winter. We looked at the Passport and Blazer when we purchased it, Passport interior was lacking a features. Blazer was too expensive to get safety equipment and just had random cheap feeling pieces around.
