The 2020 Honda Pilot Touring 7 Passenger stands out among three-row SUV rivals like the Toyota Highlander and Ford Explorer by blending advanced safety tech, family comfort, and proven reliability.

Shoppers comparing multiple three-row SUVs will appreciate how the Pilot meets broad family needs without expensive add-ons. Its seven-passenger configuration with second-row bucket seats, leather interior, and heated seats in both front and rear rows ensures every occupant rides comfortably. For busy families in Iowa’s changing seasons, the standard AWD system and dual-zone climate control deliver confidence and comfort that competitors may lack at this trim level. The Pilot is ideal for those who want a well-equipped, reliable family SUV with a track record of responsible ownership.

While the Highlander and Explorer offer V6 power, the Pilot’s 3.5L V6 24V SOHC i-VTEC engine paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission delivers a smooth and responsive drive, especially in city and highway scenarios. The AWD system enhances traction on wet or snowy roads, translating to secure handling when conditions demand it. Unlike some competitors, the Pilot’s ride remains composed even with all three rows occupied, providing a balance of capability and refinement for daily commutes or long road trips.

Safety is a core advantage for this SUV, with key features like Blind Spot Monitoring, Lane Keeping Assist System, and the Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS) included as standard. Many rivals make buyers pay extra for this level of active safety equipment. The Pilot also features a rear camera, adaptive cruise control, and rear parking sensors, ensuring confidence in crowded parking lots and busy intersections. This suite of technology helps drivers stay aware and protected without the need to step up to even higher trims or optional packages.

Inside, the Touring 7 Passenger trim delivers a premium experience with a Honda Satellite-Linked Navigation System, rear-seat entertainment, a 590-watt premium audio system, and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto. The power moonroof and power liftgate add daily convenience, while practical touches like rear air conditioning, split-bench third-row seating, and driver memory seat make family routines easier. CabinControl remote and rear audio controls keep passengers engaged and comfortable on long drives.

Compared to segment leaders like the Toyota Highlander and Ford Explorer, the Pilot distinguishes itself through its comprehensive list of standard features and reputation for low ownership costs. While the Highlander is known for its reliability and the Explorer for its performance options, the Pilot’s value comes from proven durability, transferable 5-year/60,000-mile powertrain warranty, and its inclusion of advanced technology and comfort features without extra charges. This translates to a higher overall value proposition for families focused on reliability and day-to-day usability.

Why choose the Pilot over other SUVs? It delivers a superior standard feature set, including navigation and rear entertainment, without requiring costly upgrades. What does the Pilot offer that others don’t? Standard AWD, heated second-row seats, and a premium audio system all contribute to a well-rounded experience.

      Best Honda we ever owned!

by JeffS on 6/16/2026 4:06:44 AM

This special edition Honda handles better, runs quiet, great power and good miles per gallon. Love this car better than the new Honda Trail Sport. The new Honda is less of a car in MPG, handling and quiet running.

by Malinda on 6/13/2026 6:51:47 PM

Had 4 10 yrs. With no real problems. New battery. Break replacement, shocks. It doesn’t like the LA bad roadside But overall no real problems!

      Great Ride despite the tech.

by Wally on 4/13/2026 5:56:17 PM

This is my wife's primary car that I drive from time to time and on long trips. The Pilot is very comfortable, great visibility. The adaptive cruise control is great once you get used to it. This car does have too much technology for my tastes. Having things beep at you or flash to brake has made me jump unnecessarily, more than once. I also can't make much sense of the interior climate control, it's either way to hot or way to cold even with the auto setting and trying to adjust the temp.
