Notes from the dealer
This sedan is particularly appealing to tech-forward drivers who demand strong connectivity and intuitive controls in their daily commute or road trips. Remote keyless entry, automatic temperature control, and a power moonroof offer a premium, user-centric experience. For those around Sw Mt Vernon, IA, who expect to use navigation apps, stream music, or manage calls without distraction, the HS 250h delivers a robust in-cabin tech suite tailored to support an always-connected lifestyle.
The 2.4L I4 DOHC 16V VVT-i engine paired with an eCVT transmission provides a responsive and smooth acceleration experience, while the FWD platform ensures stable handling. The hybrid technology maximizes fuel efficiency, with EPA ratings of 35 mpg city and 34 mpg highway, reducing fuel stops and enabling longer connected journeys. Electronic throttle controls and drive-by-wire systems contribute to a refined, technologically enhanced driving feel, allowing the car to adapt fluidly to changing conditions and driver inputs.
Smart safety in this sedan is anchored by electronic stability control, ABS brakes, and a comprehensive airbag system, including knee and rear side impact airbags. The vehicle leverages sensors for traction and brake assist, working in real time to help prevent skidding and enhance stability. The integration of emergency communication systems and an auto-dimming rear-view mirror further supports situational awareness, while the vehicleâs electronic monitoring warns of low tire pressure and provides real-time vehicle status updates, reducing the risk of surprises on the road.
Drivers benefit from features like dual-zone automatic climate control, a power driver and passenger seat, and HomeLink garage door integration, making daily routines more convenient. Bluetooth connectivity enables hands-free calling, while the audio system supports radio data functions for a modern media experience. Heated mirrors, an outside temperature display, and a security system round out a technology package aimed at maximizing comfort and control. Leather-trimmed seats and an auto-dimming mirror add luxury to the connected cockpit environment.
Compared to competitors like the Toyota Prius and Honda Insight, the HS 250h distinguishes itself with a richer technology interface and a more luxurious cabin experience. The Lexus infotainment system rivals others in its class for audio clarity and hands-free control, while its suite of electronic driver aids exceeds typical offerings in the segment. App integration and digital cockpit features keep the HS 250h ahead for drivers seeking a truly connected sedan in a world where digital convenience is paramount.
Does this vehicle have wireless CarPlay or Android Auto? The HS 250h offers Bluetooth hands-free capability, though wireless CarPlay and Android Auto were not industry standards at its release. What driver assistance technology is included? Smart safety is delivered through electronic stability control, ABS, an emergency communication system, and a comprehensive airbag array.

Much maligned model, didn't last long (3 years) on the market. WAY overpriced, BUT. Does what I tell it to do, have avoided - at least - four wrecks due to it's agility (and my driving ability). Incredibly reliable, in almost 10 years of ownership, 1 major issue - an oxygen sensor malfunction. Total cost about $500. I've yet to replace it's (regular car) battery. Comfortable but not as opulent as 40K cars were 10 years - at that price. Toy bumpers. Good car, when the hybrid battery goes - who knows if I'll replace it! - 5.0
This is an excellent car.

It is very unfortunate Lexus discontinued this model, but it is available in Japan still.
