The 2026 Subaru Outback Wilderness delivers a deeply planted, confident driving sensation with steering that feels precise and natural, connecting you to the road while soaking up rough patches with its adaptive suspension.

Drivers who care about every nuance of their commute will appreciate how this SUV encourages involvement without fatigue, blending daily comfort with confident handling. The balance of its all-wheel drive system and four-wheel independent suspension means you sense more road texture without harshness. Enthusiasts in regions with challenging weather or changing road surfaces, such as around Sw Mt Vernon, IA, will note the added security and engagement from Subaru’s symmetrical AWDâ€"especially when the roads turn slick or the landscape undulates.

Performance is where the Outback Wilderness stands apart. Its 2.4L 4-cylinder DOHC 16V engine delivers smooth, linear power through the CVT Lineartronic transmission, which responds crisply to throttle inputs and simulates stepped shifts for a more connected feel. The steering is weighty and communicative, making lane changes and on-ramps intuitive and precise. Adaptive suspension ensures the body remains composed over undulating pavement, while strong, progressive braking inspires confidence. Each input from the driverâ€"steering, throttle, or brakeâ€"yields a predictable, rewarding response, making even routine drives engaging.

Safety systems in this SUV are tuned to support, not override, the driver’s intent. Adaptive cruise control maintains set distances smoothly, while lane keep assist gently guides rather than intrudes, preserving natural steering feel. The blind spot monitoring and 360-degree camera enhance situational awareness, allowing for assertive lane changes and easier navigation through tight spaces. Emergency braking and stability control are calibrated to intervene only when absolutely necessary, ensuring you remain in command while benefiting from a reassuring safety net.

The Wilderness Plus Package and a suite of comfort features elevate both the daily drive and long road trips. StarTex-trimmed upholstery, heated and cooled seatsâ€"including second-row heatingâ€"plus a heated steering wheel, keep the cabin welcoming in any climate. The moonroof adds an open-air feel, and the 12.1" Subaru Multimedia System with harman/kardon speakers delivers immersive audio clarity. Dual zone climate control, rain-sensing wipers, and power liftgate further refine the ownership experience, while illuminated entry and ambient footwell lighting accentuate the cabin’s tactile luxury.

Compared to the Toyota RAV4 TRD Off-Road and Honda Passport TrailSport, the Outback Wilderness offers a more nuanced blend of confident handling and ride comfort, especially on broken pavement or gravel.

Is the Outback Wilderness comfortable on long drives? Yesâ€"the adaptive suspension, heated and ventilated seating, and quiet cabin make hours behind the wheel genuinely relaxing. How does it handle in bad weather? The AWD system and active safety tech provide exceptional confidence in rain or snow.

Experience a rewarding time behind the wheel every day by visiting Lynch Ford Chevrolet at 410 Business 30 Sw Mt Vernon, IA 52314 or calling 319-895-8500. Their team is ready to help you discover how the 2026 Subaru Outback Wilderness can transform your everyday drives with its unique blend of capability, comfort, and driver engagement.

Most enjoyable car I have owned, I’m 81.

      by Sliderule43 on 8/5/2026 9:40:28 PM

Purchased mid April and has 1500 miles. Top trim. Outback Touring XT. I’m continually amazed at how perfect this car is. Great value for the price. I use HANDS FREE often. Great feature. City mpg. 21. Expect it to improve. Interstate. 28 mpg. Most of my driving is 3.5 miles each way. Many lights. A real mpg killer. I traded in my 2024 Highlander Limited gas turbo model in with only 8,000 miles. The overall technology blows away the Highlander. I’m an active 81 and this is my first Subaru. I’ve become disappointed in Toyota products, in close to four months I can’t see a single thing I would change,

      Love this 2026 Outback

      by carol j on 6/27/2026 4:57:17 AM

I bought a 2026 Outback Touring non turbo in Dec. 2025 and have driven 4400 miles. I did not want the turbo and Im happy with the 180 hp engine. I dont tow and this engine, while maybe it sounds underpowered, I think its perfect. I am surpassing the mpg ratings. Last week I drove from Spokane to Seattle and averaged 40 mpg w 95% highway driving. Combination driving I get 27 mpg. The car is very comfortable w 12 way driver seat inc 4 way lumbar and a leg extender. You will be comfortable in this car. I LOVE the hands free driving feature. Its the cat's meow!! The interior is very logically laid out and easy to learn. The Harman Kardon sound system is really nice. I find this car is like an old friend... inviting and easy to get along with. I researched cars for over a year and I think I made the best choice.

I like the new look and the infotainment screen is better then the previous generation I like the fact it has the old school shifter and not one of those goofy electronic shifters the ride is smooth and stable gas mileage is great it has lots of cargo area and a spare tire not one of those stupid repair kits and the price was affordable
