Dealer Notes
The 2026 Ford Expedition Tremor stands out for long-term ownership value, blending proven truck-based durability with modern comfort and advanced features. Owners benefit from Fordâs reputation for reliability, and the Expeditionâs robust powertrain is engineered for high mileage, making it an investment that holds value well into the future. With its 4WD capability, strong resale prospects, and enduring design, the Expedition is a smart choice for buyers seeking a low-depreciation, high-utility full-size SUV.
This SUV is ideal for pragmatic buyers who prioritize reliability, long-term durability, and strong resale value in a family or adventure vehicle. Its three-row configuration accommodates up to eight passengers, while the Tremor trim adds off-road capability and luxury touches. Owners who plan to keep their vehicles for many years, or who expect to clock high mileage, will appreciate the Expeditionâs track record for longevity and the extensive features that reduce day-to-day wear and tear.
The Expeditionâs proven 3.5L V6 EcoBoost engine, paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission and 4WD, is built to last well beyond 150,000 miles with routine care. The powertrain is engineered for both towing and family hauling, delivering robust torque with efficient gear management. This modelâs reputation for mechanical longevity and low-frequency major repairs adds to its cost-of-ownership appeal, making it a dependable companion for both urban and rural driving demands.
Safety is a core component of value, and this truck comes equipped with active systems like ABS brakes, electronic stability control, emergency communication (911 Assist), a rearview camera, and multiple airbags. These features not only protect passengers but also help prevent costly accidents, reducing insurance claims and vehicle downtime. The Expeditionâs advanced driver aids are designed to minimize repair costs over time by keeping occupants and the vehicle itself as safe as possible.
Owners benefit from a comprehensive suite of features in the Equipment Group 501A, including three-zone climate control, power Vista Roof, heated/ventilated leather seats, navigation, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, and a 10-speaker premium audio system. The Tremor trim adds enhanced suspension and off-road equipment, further reducing the need for aftermarket upgrades. Every feature is chosen to minimize wear, maximize comfort, and increase daily usability, translating into fewer ownership headaches and a better long-term return.
Compared to the Chevrolet Tahoe and Toyota Sequoia, the Expedition offers a stronger combination of proven reliability, lower expected depreciation, and more advanced standard technology. While its competitors may offer similar space, the Expeditionâs robust EcoBoost powertrain and off-road Tremor package give it an edge in both longevity and capability, helping owners retain more value at trade-in or resale time.
Routine oil changes are typically required every 7,500 to 10,000 miles, and Fordâs maintenance intervals are designed for low lifetime service costs. The 3.5L EcoBoost engine is known for reliability, especially when serviced regularly.

Best Large SUV on the Market!
By MM-eTech | on Wednesday, June 23, 2021
I got the 2018 Platinum edition 4WD, loaded with every option. THE GOOD: Drives well for the size, excellent acceleration (coming from 3 BMW X5 V8s!), good visibility and plenty of space in all 3 rows (Largest interior compared to any SUV on the market). Excellent build quality (interior). Towed large trailers and boats without any issues. Used for construction work and long trips with kids. THE BAD: Items fixed under warranty: SYNC-3 APIM Unit, Engine timing belt plastic guides and faulty Rear Seatbelt Airbag. THE UGLY: I never liked the look of the rear end. Need Improvements: GPS screen (new 2022 is going with 15.5”). Awful rear entertainment screen, limited functionality, they should be larger and touch screen, it can use more aggressive Brakes. For this price range ($85K), they should add HUD and auto brake; more automated self driving will be nice. Overall, I have been pleased with this car and looking forward to get the updated 2022 model.… - 5.0
Satisfied New Owner
By ZooDog | on Saturday, May 05, 2018
We have a 2018 Ford Expedition Limited 4WD that we have owned for about six weeks now. (It was a dealer demo w/5000 miles when we bought it.) We have made one long trip with it (about 800 miles with five adults and a dog - no complaints). We are very happy with it so far. I traded in my 10-year old GMC SUV and wanted a large 3-row SUV that can tow. My wife approves of the passenger seat (very important). As the driver, I really liked the adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, and rain sensing wipers. The passengers took full advantage of the wifi hotspot. It has plenty of power and the 10-speed transmission is smooth as butter. I do not mind the engine stop/start feature (and it can be turned off). This is a truck based SUV so it does handle like a truck. That is what I wanted but it may not suit everyone. Our gas mileage on the trip was just a bit better than the EPA estimates.… - 5.0
Unbelievable
By New fan | on Thursday, January 14, 2021
First of all, I put on approx. 35,000 miles per year and travel frequently requiring rental vehicles. I've owned a BMW X5 2017, Chevy Tahoe LTZ 2014, 2010 Chevy Traverse LTZ and have driven all of the full sized SUVs at one point via rental or test drive. This one by far is my favorite. The power out of the 3.5 twin turbo is remarkable. It hits max power at at much lower RPM than the Tahoes and has more power and torque to start with. I've pulled a 3500lb boat with it and could hardly notice it was there. I am also 6'3 and can easily access the third row and ride back there for extended periods. One of the only things I would like is maybe a bit larger info screen but it still does a good job. Be sure to test the new 2021 Tahoe, Yukon & maybe even the Armanda (though not really close in comparison for me) and Sequoia is just plain obsolete. The Tahoe's are nice, hate the front end, but unless you upgrade to the 6.2L (which requires premium fuel) you will be back for the Expedition!…
