Dealer Notes
The 2026 Ford Explorer Active delivers exceptional value by including a 2.3L EcoBoost I-4 engine, 4WD, navigation, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, and heated captainâs chairs as standardâ"features often reserved for pricier trims on competitors. With the Equipment Group 200A and Active Comfort Package, buyers get more technology and comfort for their money than most rivals at this price point.
Analytical buyers prioritizing feature-per-dollar ratios will appreciate how the Explorer Active packs advanced infotainment, comfort, and safety features into its standard configuration. Those comparing spec sheets will find its 12-speaker system, tri-zone climate control, and third-row seating offer tangible advantages for families, commuters, or anyone seeking maximum utility per dollar spent.
The Explorerâs 2.3L EcoBoost engine and 10-speed automatic transmission provide 300 horsepower and an efficient 20/27 city/highway MPG, offering a strong power-to-price ratio. All-wheel drive enhances traction and all-weather confidence without the fuel penalty typical of larger engines. Maintenance costs are kept in check with proven Ford engineering, translating to lower cost of ownership over time.
Standard safety value is clear in this SUV: ABS, electronic stability control, a rearview camera, emergency communications (911 Assist), and an array of airbags (front, side, knee, and overhead) are included at no premium. While rivals often charge extra for blind spot monitors and rear view cameras, this modelâs comprehensive suite is built in, making advanced safety accessible without upgrade fees.
Standard features on the Explorer Active include a 12-speaker SiriusXM system, navigation, heated unique cloth captainâs chairs, power driverâs seat, alloy wheels, and tri-zone automatic climate control. The Active Comfort Package further upgrades daily usability, while 20" Carbonized Gray-painted wheels and remote keyless entry add convenience and style without additional cost.
Against competitors like the Honda Pilot EX-L and Toyota Highlander LE, the Explorer stands out by including navigation, premium audio, and heated captainâs chairs as standard equipment where those rivals often make them optional or unavailable at this price. This means buyers get more comfort and technology for every dollar spent, maximizing value without compromising quality.
Buyers often ask whatâs included as standard, and here, navigation, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, heated seats, tri-zone climate, and a full suite of active safety features come with no upcharge. The Active trim offers the best value, bundling comfort and tech usually found on higher trims. While rivals charge extra for key features, the Explorer includes them in its base package, making it a smart money decision.

Transmission broke at 17000 took 3 months to get parts for rebuild, defrost strips coming off rear glass, replaced , fix rear camera twice, cracked catalytic converter left side, be nice car if I could keep it out of shop. So warranty has covered everything. Fun to drive, impressed with performance.… - 1.0
Another hacked together vehicle at a high cost
By AGlover | on Tuesday, July 05, 2022
Started with paneling popping off at Less than 5k miles, then the window became stuck in the down position, 2 hours at the dealer from them to just get it back up and tell us the post won’t be in for awhile, now the radio isn’t working. Every mechanical malfunction came with Parts that were scorching hot to the touch when trying to troubleshoot. It’s at 11500 miles, owned since March and have regretted it since.… - 4.0
3rd Explorer and still happy
By NoHo | on Wednesday, September 08, 2021
This is my third Explorer and I still love it. I drive about 25,000 a year with a heavy foot and typically drive my cars to the ground. In 4 months I’ve owned it, I already put 12,000 miles and fortunately zero issues, it’s swerving capabilities are still good, I enjoy the assisted driving, the sound from the speakers are clean and clear. It’s actually pretty quiet.…
