Dealer Notes
The 2026 Ford Maverick Lariat AWD immediately stands out among compact trucks like the Hyundai Santa Cruz and Honda Ridgeline by blending true truck utility with sedan-like efficiency and advanced tech. Its 2.0L EcoBoost turbo engine, standard AWD, and luxury features deliver a versatile, upscale driving experience while maintaining impressive 22/30 MPG fuel economy.
Shoppers comparing compact trucks often weigh comfort, capability, and technology. The Maverick Lariat AWD is best suited for buyers wanting an all-weather, all-purpose vehicle that seamlessly transitions from weekday commutes to weekend adventures. With features like heated ActiveX seats, SYNC 4 connectivity, and a premium interior, it outpaces rivals for those prioritizing daily refinement and versatility.
Performance in the Maverick Lariat AWD shines against rivals. While the Santa Cruz offers similar horsepower, the Fordâs 2.0L EcoBoost turbocharged I4 pairs with an 8-speed automatic transmission for smoother, more responsive acceleration and better fuel efficiency. Standard AWD and a robust 2.91 axle ratio enable confident handling and traction across road conditions, making it a true multi-role performer.
Safety technology is where the Maverick Lariat AWD excels, offering features that competitors often reserve for higher trims or optional packages. Standard advanced systems include electronic stability control, ABS, a rearview camera, dual front and side airbags, knee airbags, and a SYNC 4 911 Assist emergency system, providing comprehensive protection and peace of mind for every drive.
Premium equipment defines the Maverick Lariat AWD. The Equipment Group 502A and Ford Connectivity Package add navigation, 5G modem, and connected services. Heated front seats and a heated steering wheel enhance comfort, while dual-zone automatic climate control, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, and an 8-speaker system elevate the cabin experience. Convenience features like a power-sliding rear window and remote keyless entry boost usability.
Against the Hyundai Santa Cruz and Honda Ridgeline, the Maverick Lariat AWD distinguishes itself with better combined fuel economy and a more affordable entry to advanced features. Its standard AWD, luxury appointments, and technology integration position it as the highest-value choice for buyers seeking capability without sacrificing refinement.
Choosing the Maverick Lariat AWD means getting more for your money: superior fuel efficiency, standard AWD, and an upscale interior not matched by competitors at this price point. It uniquely balances city-friendly size with true truck functionality. Buyers comparing segment leaders repeatedly cite its blend of comfort, technology, and efficiency as unmatched advantages.

A solid choice
By Jdav | on Sunday, January 29, 2023
I’ve had my Lariat for 6 months now and I am happy with it. Although the entry models are very well priced for a brand new vehicle, I chose the Lariat without any upgrade packages as the XL & XLT do not have the current “luxuries” that most would consider standard in a new vehicle. (Push start, dash screen, “leather” seats) The Maverick is the perfect vehicle to suit work and everyday life without breaking the bank. Pros: well priced, well designed interior with ample storage, good on gas, comfortable seats, strong engine, great handling and overall feel without the overbearing ride and size of a truck. Cons: engine auto stop/start cannot be permanently disengaged, sync/bluetooth system can be glitchy on occasion, wind noise at highway speed is noticeable, adding extras to your build can get very pricey.… - 5.0
If you miss the Ford Rangers from the 90's
By Maverick Guy | on Friday, September 30, 2022
It took me a year, but this past summer my Ford Maverick finally came in. I got the XLT trim with only 2 options, the Blind Spot and the 2.0 Eco Boost engine for more power. So far, it has been a great truck. If I watch my rpm.s, in the econ mode I get 30 mpg around town and on the hwy. The only issue so far is a clicking type rattle in my dash that only happens on certain slow bumps in my neighborhood, once I am on the highway it goes away. Strange. Anyway, if you miss the Ford Rangers from the 90s, this truck reminds me of a 1996 Ranger I used to have back then. It is a very solid truck, loads of room in the cabin, great bed to work with, and since it is front wheel drive I am looking fwd to seeing how it does in the snow this winter. If you order one, get the Lariat, for a few thousand more it is worth it. Hope this review helps ! PS, I was thinking of ordering a 2023 Ford Bronco 2 door, but when I sat in one at a local car show, I realized my Maverick was much more roomier and comfortable than the full size Bronco. I will stick with my Maverick !… - 5.0
2 Maverick Family

Reviewed my 22 lariat AWD last year when I’d had it for 2 days gave it a 4 star after owning it 18 months and 29K miles I’d raise my satisfaction rate to 4.7 stars. Great milage averaging 33mpg. Like it so much bought the wife a slightly used 23 lariat hybrid. Like it even better than the AWD after 4K and 1 month ownership averaging 46mpg that’s 75% highway. Pros: mileage on either hybrid or AWD model, ride is not too bad, fells planted to road, adaptive cruise/ lane keep/ aeb braking. Easy to park Cons: no power passenger seat, no fog lights, door pockets are worthless can’t keep travel mug or bottled water in as they won’t fit, ice scraper falls out every time open or close door. no auto dimming rear view mirror, bed leaks with installed cover, not enough room to adjust power seat with door closed. If Ford would fix a few minor things they’d have the perfect truck.…
