Practical-minded owners seeking dependable transportation with low ownership headaches will appreciate the Edge SELâs ability to tackle a range of everyday tasks. Its all-wheel drive is well-suited for handling unpredictable Midwest weather, such as snow and rain, while features like heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and a spacious Ebony interior ensure comfort during commutes and family trips. The combination of reliability and creature comforts makes it a smart fit for those prioritizing value in regions like Eastern Iowa.
Efficiency and drivability are core strengths of the Edge SEL. The EcoBoost 2.0L turbocharged engine is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission, designed to deliver smooth acceleration and consistent performance for daily driving. All-wheel drive enhances traction and confidence on wet or uneven roads, and Fordâs engineering focus ensures this SUVâs powertrain is built to stand up to years of routine use without compromising on efficiency.
Safety features are integral to the Edge SELâs value proposition, protecting both occupants and long-term investment. With Blind Spot Monitoring, Rear Camera, Rear Parking Sensors, and Adaptive Cruise Control, the SUV aims to reduce the likelihood of accidents and help keep insurance costs manageable. Four-wheel disc brakes, ABS, and electronic stability control further support secure handling in a variety of driving conditions.
The Edge SEL is equipped with a thoughtful selection of comfort and technology features that enhance the ownership experience. Premium synthetic leather-trimmed heated bucket seats, a power liftgate, and dual-zone automatic climate control make the cabin comfortable and adaptable. Technology highlights include a 12-speaker audio system, SiriusXM with 360L, SYNC 4 911 Assist, and steering wheel-mounted audio controls for a connected and convenient drive.
When compared to other midsize SUVs such as the Chevrolet Blazer and Honda Passport, the Edge SEL holds an advantage with its combination of all-wheel drive capability, turbocharged efficiency, and a competitive roster of standard features. The Edgeâs reputation for reliability and strong resale value further distinguish it in a segment where long-term cost matters to budget-conscious buyers.
What fuel economy can drivers expect? The Edge SEL delivers an EPA-estimated 21 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway, supporting affordable daily driving. Is Fordâs midsize SUV lineup known for reliability? The Edge has consistently earned praise for its robust engineering and dependable performance. What kind of warranty did this vehicle originally include? The Ford Edge SEL was covered by a 5-year/60,000-mile powertrain warranty, 5-year/unlimited-mile corrosion coverage, and 5-year/60,000-mile roadside assistance, which can help manage potential ownership costs.

Best Auto in My 64 Years of Owning cars
by Anonymous Reviewer on 7/7/2025 11:35:47 AM
I love my edge! I bought this car in the end of 2018 and have owed it for over 6 years. NO repairs needed. I am so happy not to have had it tied up for repairs as I am a REALTOR and drive part of every day. The only thing I have had done have been service. Keeping up with oil changes is so necessary. Oh, and I did replace the tires once.
